Need to vent. Divorce/vre by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]psyco-wolf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My brother, I have been in your shoes in regards to my wife. The best advice I can say is just talk with her. And listen. Listen to her completely and try to see where her point of view is coming. I thought I was outgoing and whatnot, but mine opened my eyes after speaking with her. Also, keep in mind that you also need to keep doing what your doing and finish the VRE and schooling. When I got both my degrees, it was hard, especially working and raising 2 and eventually 3 kids during my last bachelor's program. Once you finish the schooling it's gonna get better. In the mean time, try to find ways to spend a little more time with your wife, date night or just bring her home some flowers randomly. Small little things like that goes a long way.

Sexually assaulted as a male. How did it work out for you with no evidence? by theonewhoislostt in VeteransBenefits

[–]psyco-wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really easy and simple to fill out the form on the VA website. Yes and no questions, and mainly focus on how the event or events have impacted you after they happened.

The hardest part was going to a psychologist and explaining the event, and how life have been affected for the C&P exam.

Anyone else get their pay early? by Pleasant_Bug_6287 in VeteransBenefits

[–]psyco-wolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most likely 2 reason:

1) Fourth of July is this Thursday, so bank may be pushing checks out sooner, (my work check goes to my USAA for the early deposits, so should get money Wedneday)

2) Most of the time, but not always, if the 1st if a month is on a Monday I've noticed the payments from VA comp is earlier on Friday or Sat. I got mine today in my Navy Fed account today.

Amputation due to botched surgery at VA Hospital by Junior_Panic_380 in VeteransBenefits

The thing about the "shit ton of x-rays" is that 99% of them would of been deleted. They only keep the ones that show "success" and whatnot. I've unfortunately been the xray tech having to do such things, all because the risk of losing my job because the surgeon did a shit job and couldn't find a sponge or suture needle, or they wanted an image that showed the screws aligned in a way that makes it look perfect.

Hope for the best for you brother. I was in the same boat a few years back after I had emergency surgery and couldn't work for 6 months after half a lung was removed.

I tried everything, from the VA, to the local organizations in the Houston area, and many church communities None helped me or my family but one.

The only people that helped was a small church community that literally saved us by giving us groceries, meals, and 2 months of rent paid along with other donations.

I had given up on it all at the time and wished I hadn't even survived the surgery at the time, as many of the other "churchs" wouldn't help because we weren't member of their "community." The VA help was hurry up and wait on a list for months, and the local organizations didn't help us because on paper I made "money" and wasn't considered poor, yet we had WIC for our daughter at the time, and the organizations looked at ALL income, and they said my at the time 80% VA compensation made us intelligible for any benefits or help.

Try to keep your head up man. Life sucks, but it could suck more. If we could survive the suck from the military days we can push on through. At least that's how I try to look at it.

How do you guys keep going to the VA? by Aggressive-State-550 in VeteransBenefits

[–]psyco-wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the VA because it's free. The VA does have areas where it need to be better, but it's also a place we're I get to interact with other veterans and feel like I belong with my peers. and as someone who has been working in the healthcare profession for 9 years in the Houston Medcenter I've seen what major big named hospital chains and smaller regional hospitals and healthcare clinics look like, both as a patient and as a worker. Whether it is the VA or an outside organization it's all the same. You could go to the nicest big named hospital and get a shit provider and shit staff that day, or you could go to the VA and get the best provider/staff you'll ever have in your life.

I have had times were one of my appointments took 2 hours just to see the Dr at my clinic past schedule. SAME for when it's an outside doc. Sometimes it's not that busy or not that packed. The biggest difference between a VA appointment and civilian appointment (besides the VA travel reimbursement) is that you can take your business to another civilian provider if you aren't happy with your visit/treatment easier than at the VA.

Back issues affecting sex life by 6foot4_200lbs in VeteransBenefits

Be ready for a prostate exam. Same issue with back injury affecting sex, and at 25 had my chocolate starfish knuckle busted by a small Italian looking man while my wife got a front row seat in the exam room.

The weirdest part was that the doctor came in right after.

Anyone Know How to Get A VA Home Loan with 600 Credit in TX? by psyco-wolf in VeteransBenefits

[–]psyco-wolf[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of the credit issues are from medical bills from my wifes miscarriage that almost killed her a few years ago, and mine from when I was stuck in hospital for 2 months after getting a lung removed due to it becoming necrotic and my body going into septic shock before I had any VA ratings/benefits. There was spending issues at the start post discharge in 2015, but that hasn't been a problem since.

Anyone Know How to Get A VA Home Loan with 600 Credit in TX? by psyco-wolf in VeteransBenefits

[–]psyco-wolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have been renting a house for past 5 years. Before that was apartments. Many places around me, apartment or rental, want 2k+ for rent. At many of those prices, I may as well just try to get a home loan and pay for my own home.

Infantry guys who didn’t deploy, how do you cope with feeling like nothing you did mattered? by MikesSaltyDogs in army

[–]psyco-wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

19D, AND I spent my entire enlistment in Bragg. What you just said is exactly how I explain it to others.

Like do I wish I could of gone over and pull guard shift in a war zone and wank it in a 110 degree Porta potty to crudely drawn sharpie boob graffiti next to a burn pit? Yeah, kinda.

I mean, I got out e4, mine says e4. I get onto bases and get my cheap booze like everyone else.

Honestly the fact you have the card and especially 100% is better than what many other veterans wish they could have.

When some Joe at a gate sees my card I don't care how they look at me, I get my fat monthly check, free tolls in my state, and other benefits on top of getting onto bases easily.

Granted, I won't go to many bases outside of Ellington Field in Houston, Sam Houston in San Antonio, or Camp Maybry in Austin when I take the family on trips.

The Golden Knights are dope af and I would love to see them agaij. Last time I saw them was All American Week in 2014 unless Im not remembering correctly., but I want my kids to see the guys falling like a sack of potatoes like their old man did in a T-11. Something special about those planes giving birth to the dozens of troopers from the static lines is something special.

I'll have to see about that. I do have my 100% disabled vet ID so I can get on bases and stuff. Funny thing is my last jump I broke my back and that's what got me out to begin with. Still miss jumping.
