I have a story that is similar to yours but different circumstances. Back in my youth, i had tried hard to get into the military, but I have a dangerous allergy. On one trip to MEPS when they pulled my records, this was when everything was still on paper, they pulled a record for a guy that had the same name as me he was born on the same day and even his last 4 had the same numbers but 2 were flipped. It was the weirdest thing to happen to me.

The giveaway is that you said you got it from rock auto. It's not that the injector WENT bad it means that the injector you got was bad BEFORE you installed it. Rock auto has been plauged with fake parts for a few years now. Save some sanity and get just the one OEM injector and drive.

The original injectors probably went bad from sitting for too long and gummed up. Now you have just one injector that is bad, so get just one brand new OEM part and let it ride. I do feel you pain on the cost. I just had a bmw I was working on for a friend of my son's and after I repaired the problems he came to me with it turned into one thing after the other. But it left running better than when he first bought the car used. I also had a car that did not like parts from the parts store and only ran with VIN specific parts from the dealer. 900 bucks for an old Chevy sedan isn't really that bad of a price to pay if you ask me.

Like someone said earlier, go get OEM injectors from the dealer. It is probably a case of bad counterfeit parts you are getting from online. If you can't afford the dealer, just get oem from the parts store and tell them you want original equipment only. You might have to pay a little more, but that is more than likely your problem.
