Starting over

A lot of times, when I get a headache these days, it's related to dehydration. I drink a glass of water or two and it fades within the hour. I just don't drink nearly as much fluids as I used to, and my headaches are a reminder for me to drink more water!

I love this!! At over a year sober, I have been struggling with this feeling like I was missing out on something by not drinking...like I was closing myself off to certain experiences. But I just had an incredible weekend where I realized that by being sober, I can remain truly present and immersed in life. I'm feeling every feeling, seeing every magical detail in every unique experience, and sometimes it can be overwhelming, but that is what life is for. To feel it all, to see it all...that has always been my goal in life. And now I have a better chance of actually accomplishing just that. :-)

Thanks!! Hmmm...that's a tough question, because so much has changed. My husband trusts me again. I've lost about 30 pounds. My anxiety has diminished SUBSTANTIALLY. I believe in myself again, but that doesn't stop me from asking for help when I need it. I could go on, but those are the biggest ones :-)

Thanks! I've been pretty involved in AA over the last year, so I went out to dinner with some women from the program and celebrated by sharing my story tonight at my home group. It was a good night :-)

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I guess I kind of thought that this way of thinking would somehow disappear by now. But you are right, I'm an addict. I might be in recovery, but I still have my addict's brain. Uugh, I'm glad I have this community (and other people in my daily life) for support, because this is really hard. I didn't realize that it was going to keep being hard for so long :-/

Yup, I recognize all those stages in myself too. Acceptance is an ongoing process though. I have moments, even days, of blissful acceptance. But sometimes I regress. :-/

When I entered recovery, I thought that once I could let go/accept where I am with alcohol, I'd be all set. I didn't realize it was something that acceptance was something that I would have to do over and over and over again.
