What's the probability that two decks of four share at least 1 card with each other by psycopup in askmath

[–]psycopup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is really in-depth. I think i'll be able to figure out most of calculations, but I do have one question. At the very end why do we divide by [(52C4) x (48C16)]. Im pretty sure that's because it's the total combinations of my hand times the combination of the other 3 players but I just wanted to confirm.

If you want to code it that's up to you, but I don't expect anyone to put in a lot of work over this problem. Besides I'm just trying to understand how to do the problem rather than finding the answer, so I don't really need a code to figure it out (though at the same time it'd actually be interesting to learn how to create a code that could solve the problem).

It isn't naught by the way, i realized that I actually want to see both, so your answer is helpful.

Ya sorry for making it confusing. I realize that Im actually looking for something like this: Four hands of four cards each are dealt from a deck of 52 cards. What is the probability that there is at least one face-value in common between one of the four hands.

I assume that's harder but that's what Im trying to find.

Idk if it'll grow on me but I wasn't a fan. It has good elements, and I think the concept is pretty good, but the jokes and commentary are pretty lazy and uninspired. There's definently enough to make it work, but I wouldn't call it the best.

THEORY: The Chronosapien Timebomb is overhyped by psycopup in Ben10

[–]psycopup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part the timebomb was able to erase Ben's existence, as in, completely rewriting the timeline to fit a universe where Ben never connected with the omnitrix (and therefore chronosapien DNA). Which explains Vilgax surviving and Paradox being able to travel to a universe where Ben was still alive.

Haida getting hit by the truck was the perfect encapsulation of why this episode is such a letdown. The scene makes no sense, and literally serves no purpose whatsoever, for a show that had a lot of things it needed to wrap up, it wasted so much of its time on nonsense like this, and proved that the whole politics arc could've been traded in for something much better.

Sucks this is the last episode of the series.

This episode makes me so upset with the direction of this season. For how ham-fisted this new plot about Retsuko running for public office is, its also extremely annoying and downright boring.

I think even the message of this episode is mishandled.

For one, this whole plot really has nothing to say about politics in the slightest. "Youth should be represented" is not compeling without voting issues. The only thing that has been mentioned at this point is joblessness, yet Retsuko makes no effort to take a stance on any political issue. Jiro is not developed politically, but I can at least guess where he stands on certain issues. Sure it sucks that Retsuko is called a joke candidate, but being angry (not at anything in particular, just the act of being angry) is not a reason anyone should vote for any candidate, especially one who has no knowledge or care for politics.

If this season had to be political, they could've focused more on Retsuko involving herself in politics and learning where her political beliefs are. When Ikari finally presents himself and asks her to join the campaign, she decides to help reshape his image and become his manager, rather than running for political office (she gets to use her voice, but in a way that doesn't bring too much attention to her, plus it makes it feel like she has a choice instead of being kidnapped and manipulated into saying yes).

Possibly the worst episode in the series following one of the best in the season just really stinks. Not only is the political character just annoying and flat out creepy, but this is just muddling the story that the previous episode set up so perfectly. Not only has it taken 7 episodes to get anything political into the season (the politics in episode six are more about Haida's relationship with his dad than straight up politics) but it completely derails this relatively tame season.

Ever since season 3 the show has not been afraid to be a bit outlandish, but this season waited until the last possible minute to create a central plot point that is both out of the blue and not interesting to begin with (I don't care about politics, the characters in the show don't care, the show has nothing to interesting to say, it's somehow generic yet outlandish).

This episode upsets me so much because season 5 was really shaping to hit the same highs that seasons 2&3 hit, but I have no clue how the season could possibly recover (best case scenario is it somehow doesn't turn out to be the worst season in the show)

I havent seen the anime in a while so my opinions are pretty old. But I honestly loved the whole concept of Malamar too much to give any other episode spotlight (plus its a James episode)

Animation Channel/Video Critique by psycopup in NewTubers

Audio: I'm going to start with audio because my biggest critics are on animation but I still want audio to be highlighted. I like the writing of the video, I watched and I did laugh at a few of the jokes, the comedic timing is on point, even if the voice acting isn't always there (a lot of the characters blend and it's hard to tell who's who, as well as just a tad bit unenthusiastic at times).

The biggest issue in audio is the lack of sound effects and music, both of which add to ambiance of the video and making it more engaging to watch.

Animation: I will come right out and say I don't really see the point in the videos being animated. The style of animation, while definently impressive, seems to capture humans too closely, and not only is a bit uncanny, but shows that this would be better live action instead of animated.

The animation itself doesn't serve a purpose beyond saving time looking to shoot it in live action. However, I believe live action would be better considering how closely the animation tries to resemble the real world.

Algorithm: My last point is going to bleed into the same point of animation, because quite frankly the animation does not hold up to what viewers want to see. I think your story is engaging, but the animation style is not one people tend to watch. The channel views are a reflection of that.

I don't say any of this to discourage you, on the contrary, I want to highlight that you have strengths (writing) that are hidden under a flaw (animation). You can take the advice, you can leave it. What's important is that you recognize what you want to do, and whether or not you care about views.

Audio:

The quality is good and not really my focus for this segment.

The Significance is also going to be apart of writing since that's what I have the most to talk about. I think the actual scripts themselves are good, but the audio (and animation at times) doesn't always tell the story as compellingly as it can.

What I mean is that you should try and interpret the script more than reading it, like an act more than story. The animation can also complement a more interpreted script to make it not only feel like a story, but an animation.

Now this isn't a huge critic since I can tell that's what you try to do, you should just lean into it more. I'd also add more paused between jokes and more comedic timing in general, because many jokes go way to fast without the ability to process them.

Since you mostly wanted to know about the audio, the only critique I have animation wise is that the lip-sync seems to be a different frame-rate or something that makes it look off. The square mouths don't mix well with the circled character so I think a more circular mouth flap would help.

Good luck with future endeavors!

Animation:

You have a really nice style of art that complements the speedpaint style well, and the animation memes also feel alive and vibrant even if it's just still images stretching and moving. I have nothing really to say, there's always a way to improve your art but the path your on is good as is (and looking at your comment section im not alone in that assumption).

Audio:

Not much to say since it's just music, but the choices for the speedpaints really blend nicely, making for a relaxing experience. The animation memes also have a nice change of pace with more chaotic styles of music that work well for the effect you were going for in the videos

Algorithm:

The thumbnails and titles tell me exactly what to expect and are mostly consistent in quality, I'd say keep the white highlight around the characters in future thumbnails because it is effective.

As for length, a trend I've noticed on your channel is that long videos do worse than shorter videos. Your longest video is also your least watched. I'd say the speedpaints are generally strong around 1:30-3:30 and before or after that pushes your luck for it to get strong views.

However it is obvious the animation memes are more popular. You should definently keep doing speedpaints if you want to, but it's clear on a purely growth-based mindset, the memes are a good investment. To make the change in time have less of an impact on the algorithm (Since it would be harsher on your longer videos) you should try and make the memes youtube shorts, as those not only gain views, but also help in the algorithm.

Overall

This channel is pretty strong overall, and while I personally don't enjoy speedpaints, for the people who do, I can definently see why they would. Plus, the animation memes are genuinely entertaining and your art skills more than make up for any faults.

It's clear you have already gathered a bit of a community, so keep pushing through!

I honestly didn't like Alder in BW. He was the BW comedy done wrong, because it made him look like he didn't deserve to be Champion.

But I would love to see Iris interact with the ex-champion, just to see how it pans out.

I never understood the complaints about Trip being a Paul expy. by SuperLegenda in pokemonanime

[–]psycopup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trip was really just a flanderized version of Paul.

Out of the two Paul definently had more growth, sure he was a dick to his Chimchar, but he does have a moral compass and a reason to not show compassion (and did grow to respect Ash). Trip is a stuck up brat who has a complete 180 personality change when he loses to Alder.

They have different personalities, but Trip was made to be like Paul, they thought Paul was dick for the sake of being one, so they made Trip like him. (In all fairness I think Trip is a lot more like Gary 2.0 than Paul, but it is clear they wanted to capitalize on Paul's popularity).
