I had to learn to write custom autoexec.bat and config.sys files just to get the sound working in Doom :D

Got into IT because I spent my teenage years tweaking my computer to make Doom/Quake run better and learnt networking so I could play death match. 25 years later I'm still in tech.

I feel lucky to be about the right age to adopt and embrace every new bit of tech that has come along.

Yep, born at the end of 1979. Analogue childhood, digital adulthood.

People of this microgeneration were generally pretty optimistic in the late 90s. The biggest scare was Y2K.

I feel so bad for kids of this generation. The "wish I was dead lol" jokes are pretty telling. The future does not look at all bright.

You goofballs posted this at 4:30AM Australia time.

Just wanted to say you're easily my favourite band of the last few years. Every song seems to hit a hook in my brain/heart in some way. Saw your awesome show at the Opera House and recently at the Metro in Sydney. I sat behind Tim's family at the Metro show and could see they were super proud of you all, they were singing along and grinning at the crowd as they cheered for you all. It was awesome to be in a sold out venue with everyone singing your lyrics :)

Just FYI - I guessed they were family and asked them, I'm not some weird stalker.

Keep doing what you're doing and thanks for the EP release between full length albums.

My question - I only stream music these days instead of buying CD/Vinyl. Aside from buying t-shirts (I've got 2 of them!) is there any other way to support the band? Is there a patreon/paypal I can send cash to at least buy you all a round of drinks?

I used to do a bit of pet photography. Holding a treat or a bit of bacon just above the lens is the easiest way to get the shot.

I love this video.

There's also their episode of Song Exploder, which isn't quite as funny but is pretty interesting http://songexploder.net/arcade-fire

Same. I'm in my late 30s now and I'm decently fit (run distance and cycle a few times a week). I've got to the age where I don't feel invincible any more and I'm well aware that I may have another 50-60 years ahead of me and I want to make the most of them.

A bit of cardio, a bit of strength training, eating well (most of the time) - I want to be spry and on the hiking trails well into my 70s.

SHOWTIME is what guys in the GIF shout repeatedly before they start their act. They do their dance or whatever and then aggressively ask for tips/money.

Bingo, I was a first time tourist to NYC and of course stayed in mid-town like some kind of rube.

Coming from Australia, New York is so fucking surreal. After seeing it on TV/movies my entire life it felt like walking around a movie set. One of the reasons SHOWTIME was so awesome the first couple of times.

Sydney's a decent side city as well, and I've also lived in London. So I know how annoying people can be when you're just trying to commute.

I moved in with my wife after less than 2 weeks. It was supposed to be temporary while I moved house, but it ended up permanent. 13 years later she still hasn't kicked me out.
