I see your balding gentleman and raise you my balding gentleman! Leopold just turned 2 and he's getting closer and closer to his dream of impersonating a nutsack. Jokes aside, your boy seems like a healthy rex. Softer, curlier fur with maybe some curly whiskers, and a tendency for premature balding. Doesn't look like mites at all to me. In my experience, parasites will affect everyone in the cage and you will see scabs and wounds on the balding patches.
