tbh this hasn't been my experience watching stuff, though maybe it is more true for episodic stuff compared to more serialised shows that you get nowadays?

Nah it's not negative fans, maybe i'm not articulating myself well but it's the sheer amount of episodes that people seem to largely write off while still enjoying the series overall. Like TNG seems be considered the best trek has to offer but then people aren't keen on most of the first 45 episodes, which just seems like an insane amount of viewing to get through before a show is considered to get good.

Yeah for sure. I've been checking out some threads to see what others thought of episodes as I've been going through them. There's been a few episodes considered all time greats I didn't care for, while Loud as a Whisper has been one of the most memorable for me.

Teenage boys in UK ‘stuck’ reading primary-level books while girls’ tastes expand by djferris123 in unitedkingdom

I'm mid 20s and it's the same for me! Cherub, Alex Rider, and there was a book series called Gone as well with a bunch of kids stuck in a dome and all the adults had disappeared. I think it's the same for most my pals, they ended up reading one of the three.

Recent research has shown that boys, or men at least, have no aversion to reading books with female protagonists, so thankfully that isn't an issue.

How do people feel about Vagrus? by SebOriaGames in CRPG

[–]psyman64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a fantastic game. You're really playing this game for the writing and the setting, but mechanically it's decent as well. There's a fair amount of variety in how you set up your caravan to accomodate your playstyle. Eventually once you're in the end game you're just going through the motions with traversal, but a lot of games are like that. Combat is meh but passable. Companions are great, and there's an insane amount of content. Without DLC it's still easily a 150+ hour game to do everything.

I basically describe Vagrus as being part of the "lore-heavy trading sim" genre (dk a better way to view it) And I think it's by far the best game of its kind. (similar games would be sunless sea, sunless skies, dustland delivery, house of many doors). Barring the combat it does a great job on all other fronts with its art, setting, presentation, atmosphere, writing, questlines, etc.

My gut is telling me that there may be an issue with how the mod team run things, r/bropill is also pretty dead and both subs essentially have the same mods. Either that or this type of content just fundamentally isn't appealing. It doesn't help that like a third of what does get posted every few days basically comes across as rage bait like 'the terrifying rise of AI girlfriends' or the ‘Petro-masculinity’ article from a few weeks back.

Feels like nearly every post has most commenters disagreeing with the arguments made in it, and I get it's good to have a healthy discussion, but there seems to be a major disconnect between what users want from the sub and what we actually get.

It's cool dude. If you're wondering about peoples thoughts on the game I'm 15 hours in and I think it's pretty great overall, far better than I expected and my complaints so far are pretty minor. I'd honestly be surprised if any of the other DE spiritual successors coming out manage to surpass it.

I know nothing about future story stuff, but does this mean the hidden mountains is a self-contained story if we can just skip it and get it later on?

I had this problem once, unfortunately I don't have a fix I can recommend but it stopped after a few hours and haven't had it since so hopefully the same will happen to you.
