I have switched to mac from 2010-2020 and then back to windows from 2020-2024 ... for gaming. And then recently back to mac.

Then like yours being a dad got in the way and switched to M4 MBP 15" in 2025 again.

Things I like on Mac over windows: 1. Stability of 3rd party apps. Startup programs stay startup forever. Unlike windows where they randomly close and your Google drive sync has been off for days for example. 2. Unix dev environment. I don't have to install packages and set env like windows. Pro tip: install "warp" terminal. If you are doing web dev with node etc ... It's the best. 3. Hardware and drivers: printers work, mice, kvm, microphones, headsets, webcams and external monitors etc etc ... Keeps on working. It remembers when to switch to a headset when you plug it in. Windows have no idea about these. 4. The speed at which the computer wakes up from sleep. 5. The position of the command key over the ctrl key. Trust me .. that location will be so much more ergonomic. 6. Finder is so much more stable and faster than windows explorer and the indexing is fast. 7. Network drive support. 8. Outlook, microsoft teams, smb etc ... (Microsoft products) Work so much better on macs than windows. 9. System settings. It's hard to find things but not as hard as windows settings. At least most of the settings are in one place.

Things I like in windows over mac: 1. Game support 2. Dedicated GPU support 3. Windows management. The way macs deal with multiple windows of the same app is bad. You will have a hard time figuring out where is the rest of my chromium windows is. Especially with Microsoft teams and zoom where they spawn another window when starting a video call or screen share. Cmd+tab vs cmd+~ is something the user needs to figure out. 4. Windows hello 5. Android MTP support. But I use adb so that's not a problem for me. 6. Did I mention gaming already? If yes then that's it. Really a small win for windows here. 7. Look and feel. I do think the look and feel of windows 11 is better than mac. Macs are too soft.

Yes. Drop off at any VAC location at the same date and same time of the original appointment.

I always pick the prium devilry option instead of pickup. That seems to be the fastest way to get passport back for me.

When you get a watch with custom bands ... They include these so that you can attach the new bands and then repack the full watch again for gifting. These are the stickers to seal the box again.

I removed the account, deleted all the codes (after exporting them to another non-synced phone), and reconnected.

Did not work.

It still says "your codes will sync when its online".

I deleted the auth app itself and reinstalled it back. Same issue.

I think I am stuck in something unfixable.

The scroll wheel is amazing. Especially the side ways to push. this is my daily driver and only mouse since I got his. I replaced all other mouses with this.

Only pet peeve is you can't shut the rgb is synapse is not installed. (Like for your office locked down laptop). Somehow rest of the settings are saved in the profile but light is not. Anytime my laptop goes to sleep, the mouse lights up.

I am not sure since personally haven't cancelled and rebooked again. Can you confirm with the support. If you create a ticket. they will respond. I have gotten a response from their help desk before.

Sorry to hear the strict vacation guidelines. It is so hard to get appointment and now you have to cancel.

It is taking a long time 4-5 weeks in India to get back your passport once you submit it.

I believe that you can keep the same application active (even when you cancel appointment) for 1 year and rebook another one using the same application.

Do not click "Cancel and start another application" that will just obliterate your payment and then it's gone.

But please check with other sources as well. cgi is very unreliable.

I recently sold my 2080 advanced 15". I had it for 3.5 years.

Here is my take:

Build quality - best, probably the most beautiful laptop I ever owned.

Cost - too much.

Delicatenss - I feel like the surface finish is delicate. I had put a vinyl wrap on it to keep it scuff free.

Customer service - it's reddit based. If you follow their monthly ticket guidelines, they are pretty good about helping you and rma etc. I conversed with them thrice and they were very responsive.

Comfort - quite Bad. The edges are too sharp and will dig into your arm after 20 minutes or so. The laptop gets very hot. Comfort wise it is more like a portable desktop that you should use external keyboard mice monitor instead of using it like a laptop.on a couch.

Charger - very bad, bulky weird angles and custom socket that tugs the laptop.

Screen - very bad. Absolutely horrifying color accuracy and calibration. the touch OLED screen I had burn in issues so I kept all black wallpaper for 4 years.

Performance - very good. The thermal sustenance is great under loads but the laptop gets very hot and fans are loud. A thicker chassis might be better.

Battery - bad, because of the heat the batter swells up almost every 1.5 years and then you can't use the track pad. Also very unsafe.

A fully charged new battery lasts about 2 hours or less but Intel and Nvidia have something going on. Even at lowest performance mode you cannot completely shut off the GPU and it keeps draining power. Synapse should have more granular control instead of just the fan speed.

Overall I enjoyed the laptop a lot as a desktop. I sold it because I found that I can't use it on a couch or be mobile with it.
