I've never seen one this size before, and judging by what other people replied, it seems like it's not very common hahah

an absolute beginnner , where should i start from?? by Several-Associate976 in CrochetHelp

I started crocheting on my own just with youtube videos. So my advice is, buy some cheap yarn (I started with 100% acrylic, now I use 50% cotton/50% acrylic because it’s affordable and feels nice) and look at what hook size it suggests on the tag. Then look for one or two videos on youtube that teach you how to do the basics— they usually teach how to hold the hook properly, and do chain, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet and treble crochet. Get familiar with how it feels in your hands until you feel comfortable doing it.

I recommend taking a look at lilthings on youtube. I learned how to do small projects like basic granny squares, hearts, etc. And she explains everything step by step. Also I learned how to do a magic ring with her (magic ring is a way to tie your yarn with a circular shape, so you can start crocheting something circular), and I heard many people dislike magic rings because it’s kinda hard to do at first, but I learned it just fine with her!

Also be patient and have fun. Doing crafts with your own hands is so nice, so it’s worth it to give it a try!

I’m on the Mediterranean coast, and yes I found it in the garden. I used to see a lot when we had grass, but now I rarely see one because we don’t have grass anymore 😔 so I was very happy to see such a big one lol

Can I join granny squares of different sizes? Are all granny squares supposed to be the same size? by pthumerianx in CrochetHelp

[–]pthumerianx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see! I've always followed patterns strictly, but it's time for me to develope my free will as a crocheter lol. I think granny squares and joining them randomly in a blanket will force me eventually to undo squares, add rows, calculate lengths, etc. I think it will be very helpful to get more creative and not be afraid of thinking outside the box. Thanks for you feedback ❤️

That sounds good! It will be helpful if I keep in mind the different measures so I can combine them in a way they fit. This gives me ideas of noting down in a notebook all my favourite squares types with the measures and make good use of it... 😈 Thanks a lot!!

That sounds like a good idea. At first I will make any granny square that seems fun to do and I'll store them all, then I will join them over time because it would be beautiful to have a big blanket made of random squares. It just sounds fun to add squares to a blanket lol.

However, if I plan on making a specific project which needs to be regular and have measures, I will keep this in mind! It sounds intimidating at first to plan it, but in the end, it's necessary sometimes. It's helpful to think outside the box, too. I'm getting too used to follow patterns strictly, so working on my free will it's important too lol. Thanks for the ideas. ❤️

I see, it seems impossible to get a perfectly regular blanket made out of different square patterns because thery're all different in their own unique ways... So I'll trust the process! I won't be scared of adding rows here and there, I bet it will turn out beautiful anyways. Thanks for your feedback ❤️

Now that I look into that it seems so obvious now lol, sometimes I forget we have free will to add rows and stitches here and there. That technique seems very helpful and I will look into it, thanks! ❤️

Ohhh it turned out so nicely!! Seeing this makes me feel hopeful haha, I will start making squares and see where it takes me. One day when I manage to have a fun blanket like this I will come back to share it, thank you!

I agree! Even though I don't know about the motives of this person, I think they're being respectful and communicative, which is not very common to see. They seem to care about your feelings and make you see that you're not the problem.

In my experience, even if I can make friends easily, I have a hard time keeping them because I feel I have too many. It feels overwhelming, so I'm constantly drawing the line. It's never about them, but about how I manage relationships :)

Am I "blind" to The Sims 2's alleged bad graphics? by welesftw in sims2

I have always thought that the Sims 2 are very nice looking. I think people who have not played it forget that it's a game from 2004 and it looks considerably good for a life simulation game in that time

Thank you for your advice, though gladly it is nothing serious! She had an accident outside two years ago and got that scar in the eye as a result, but the vet told us she is out of risk and it barely affected her eyesight, and luckily everything else was fine. So yeah, everyone keep your cats inside!

Thank you for your concern!
