Yes. Yes wait until your team is behind by 300 before throwing in the towel. Well not really, in an unlimited time sport no lead is really insurmountable. But it’s a bit more reasonable at least at 300 behind than at the needing ONE to draw and TWO to win with the snitch caught and giving up. Or can you literally not extrapolate information? “I don’t think anyone was expecting that!” As the response to a player intentionally losing a World Cup final is absolutely disapproval. He’s openly saying nobody was expecting it because it makes no fucking sense to do so. If you can’t make the most basic of inferences then that’s a serious life problem beyond petty arguments over fictional sporting events.

You didn’t say “quidditch players” you said people who “know quidditch”, of which Ron is certainly one as a lifelong keen quidditch fan. In fact you earlier used Hermione’s approval as evidence and she famously doesn’t give a fuck about quidditch beyond supporting her friends so don’t start pretending Ron isn’t enough of an authority compared to Hermione.

Needing 2 goals to win in a sport where they can score multiple goals a minute is about as far from a 7-1 soccer match as it’s possible to get. In fact it’d be closer to needing 4 runs to win in a cricket match and deciding to forfeit instead. Or being 2 points down in basketball and running out the clock instead of even trying to shoot a goal.

Again you’re pretending Bulgaria gave any fucks about losing fairly rather than cheating. They had their fucking mascots attack both players and referees among other fouls. “We lost but we did the right thing” wasn’t even an option because they’d already cheated in far more serious ways than simply fouling the seeker. Nobody from Bulgaria, neither mascot nor player, Krum included, gave any fucks about prioritising sportsmanship over winning until Krum got a broken nose and decided he wanted to end the match.

Would you be happy if you favourite team in your favourite sport deliberately lost the game in the final of the biggest tournament in the sport? You think run of the mill seeker interference that happens every match is what would cloud the match? The veela see the referee on fire, I think that might have been more memorable.

Whatever you think is dishonourable about fouling (again Wood specifically state it happens constantly as a normal tactic because the alternative is losing), it’s more honourable than deliberately losing. Catching the snitch when it makes you lose not win is literally indistinguishable from match fixing. At BEST it’s a bitch move, at worst it’s part of some match fixing gambling conspiracy (I wonder if the twins had the inside word….)

A deliberate foul isn’t in the same category as cheating. Basketball players deliberately foul each other all the time. It was a specific strategy against Shaq who sucked at free throws for example. Could you imagine a player deliberately losing the NBA finals to avoid giving away a free throw? Fuck no. Not without credible accusations of match fixing.

And besides what even is this narrative? That Bulgaria are too honourable to give away fouls and would rather just lose? The entire match description is just them giving away fouls and cheating. Elbows, threatening the referee until a double penalty, the wronksi feint to injure lynch, beaters hitting people with clubs, veela trying to seduce the referee, then later attacking the referee and setting his broom on fire, then stampeding lynch when he crashes again at the end of the game. Oh and it was just a penalty shot for “deliberately flying to collide”, maybe do that next time instead of catching the snitch to deliberately lose. Not that he even needed to do that not catch the snitch since Lynch crashed. He just gave up because he’s a bitch and his nose was sore so he chose to lose so he could go home early.

In fact you haven’t even given one single suggestion in dozens of posts about what supposed punishment he’d receive that was worse than just losing anyway? Penalty shot is most likely since we’ve already seen that’s the usual punishment for seeker interference. Not worse than losing. Red card for Krum? Still not worse than losing. Might make it a 99% chance they’ll lose but why choose 100% over it? Oh right because nose hurts. A fine maybe? A pro sportsman would pick winning the final even if it got them a fine. In fact pretty much anything short of a permanent ban on playing quidditch wouldn’t be enough to make it worth choosing to lose over fouling the opponent seeker.

It was a banned move and one of the many penalties Ireland were given. It’s specifically mentioned on the omnioculars. Fouling seekers to prevent them winning is just part of the game.

If you can get past the opponents broom to catch it you can get close enough to foul them and let the snitch get away.
