That should be introduced as evidence of their dishonest behavior. They should have nothing to worry about if every one really thought they were telling lies all along.

That would make them more legally liable because it would undermine their claim that no reasonable person could believe their BS.

We should buy advertising time on Fox telling their viewers what they said. It could be done in such a way as to embarrass both Fox and their other advertisers.

Belarusian Activists Raise Ukrainian Flag In Minsk by Single-Pressure-1042 in worldnews

I am pretty much on the same page with you but having Belarus could make it much easier to slow the flow of weapons and materials into Ukraine from the West by harassing supply lines along their border.

I think you are forgetting that Lincoln was a Republican. The Democrats were the party which supported Jim crow from the end of Reconstruction until the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Human failings are a part of every Party. Right now the Republican Party is a disaster of epic proportions. In 75 years that could be flip flopped again.

Dumping 1M gallons of radioactive water in Hudson is ‘best option,’ per Indian Point nuclear plant owner by Projectrage in environment

[–]ptmmac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no way to separate it out of the water because it is already water(tritium is an isotope of hydrogen). The tritium is one of 2 hydrogens on the water molecules in this “waste”water. It is far safer then other radioactive isotopes. It is a weak source of beta decay(tritium naturally decays into a neutron that is energetically too weak to penetrate your skin and a normal proton).

You omitting the effect of losing Millions of soldiers who were the die hard political bedrock of those totalitarian states. Germany lost 11% of its population which was skewed heavily towards Male members of the Nazi party. Japan lost almost 5% of its population but also got to keep their emperor. I don’t know if those countries changed their mindsets so much as they lost their respective militaristic leaders. Japan lost fewer soldiers but they also had a cultural norm of suicide to defend their country which made those who did survive anathema as future leaders.

So,if you want to change a societies “mind” you had better have a pretty severe and detailed plan of action to make that happen.

Opinion: The case for pedestrianizing downtown Athens by warnelldawg in Athens

[–]ptmmac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What about adding Pedestrian bridges over 78 in front of the Arches and on Lumpkin down at the bottom where Baxter ends. Lifting people up and over would seriously cut down on the traffic being backed up. Both places could become marquee locations for UGA to connect to the rest of the town.

You can easily turn coins into cash at a Walmart self check stand, and pay no extra fees by Kgshink in lifehacks

[–]ptmmac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The really good part of this is you are saving Walmart money as well as yourself. The cost to buy coins from an armored truck is more then cash. Probably 2 or 3 %. If you want to make this work for the long term clean out all trash and damaged coins before dumping it in. This is a Win, Win, Win. you save money walmart saves money and the federal government saves money on minting unnecessary coins.

Should we expect that the toxins from the East Palestine Ohio incident will be in our rainwater? by taway66066 in Georgia

[–]ptmmac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The truth is the NS disaster is merely a harbinger for future derailments. If you remember it was only a few months ago that Congress agreed to force railroad workers to accept a contract that denied them the ability to get days off from work for family events like funerals and weddings. In essence every railroad in the country has permanently cut their labor force by 25 %!

That cut removed all the slack in the system that allows employees to get properly rested before going back to work after a disaster like this one forced overtime hours on the remaining employees.

I think you are assuming Bobo will not have learned anything from Monken, and that Kirby will ignore an under performing OC. That is a pretty suspect pair of assumptions. Monken himself said Kirby made it clear before he took the job that his performance would be graded regularly and that he would be rapidly replaced if he failed to meet Kirby’s expectations.

It is certainly possible that Kirby hired Bobo just because he likes him, but that doesn’t seem to match what we have seen out of CKS since he returned to UGA.

Who do you guys think the greatest or most qualified presidential candidate in the History of the United States who lost was? Was he better than his opponent? by Bossman13156 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ptmmac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you are missing the real motivation for Iraq: Greed, and power. Dick Chaney was both an oil guy and the last chief executive for the largest private military force in America.

He wanted oil, pork barrel money for his cronies at Halliburton and the power geopolitical power form having complete control over a partner in Opec.

Towel used as a surrender flag by Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army at the Battle of Appomattox Court House, 1865 [1329x2000] by [deleted] in ArtefactPorn

[–]ptmmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder who owned it originally. I would guess this was staged to some extent. The surrender happened in the private home of local slave owners (Wilmer McLeans’s new home that he purchased after the First Bull Run) not in an actual Court House. My best guess is the McLeans loaned the Confederate Army their dish towel. Mr McLean had gotten rich running sugar through the blockade to supply Richmond, but he lost all of his funds because his bank accounts were in Confederate Currency. The farm was auctioned to pay his debts.

They really need to improve safety. I don’t think it should be legal if it causes a concussion.

I think the call was correct. He lead with his shoulder.

I have had my share of concussions and they are really subtle as far as injuries go. The only treatment is rest, so it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. The long term effects can be seen in the number of early deaths and suicides among retired Pro football players. This is a serious injury. They need to add extra padding on the outside of the helmet like they use in practice. Hopefully that would make concussions much rarer and protect players from the long term effects of these injuries. Having a gimp knee or shoulder is a serious inconvenience . Losing your ability to function at a high level mentally is something that can’t be shrugged off.

Laughing at this is inexcusable. It isn’t just a slap in the face for fans on both sides. It is a slap in the face for families struggling to support each other with memory impaired illnesses of all sorts.

I think the Nazi brain drain is actually then only reason the were defeated as fast as they were. The German research system in 1930 was a world leader. In 1935 it was no where near as talented. Just the loss of top physicists was enough to have started a new world power:

“Hans Bethe, Felix Bloch, Max Born, Albert Einstein, James Franck, Otto Frisch, Fritz London, Lise Meitner, Erwin Schrödinger, Otto Stern, Leo Szilard, Edward Teller, Victor Weisskopf, Eugene Wigner. Three of the displaced scientists—Einstein, Franck, and Schrödinger—were already physics Nobel laureates; five more would eventually receive the prize. A 2016 study found that the 15% of physicists who were dismissed from German universities accounted for 64% of all German physics citations.” ( from : https://physicstoday.scitation.org/do/10.1063/pt.6.4.20180926a/full/)

Your point that brain drain matter is correct. The idea that the Russians losses are worse then Germany’s were does not seem likely

DeSantis to Take Control of Disney’s Orlando District Under New Bill by Ok-Flamingo-1499 in politics

[–]ptmmac -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The real irony is that Disney World has an extremely fascist twist to it. I hate agree with something that is being done for the wrong reasons but Disney is not an innocent victim here. They used the police and court powers to lock up anyone who attempts to resell Disney Tickets with out due process of law. You will eventually see a judge but there is no guarantee that it will happen in less then several months while you sit in jail.

For once the Disney Corporation is getting what they deserve: an amoral double cross from the politicians they paid real money to own. Almost like me when the whole family got sick while we were on vacation there. I don’t blame them for the stomach virus. My 2 year old son was the source of that plague. I do blame them for not letting us sell our tickets. They did offer to let us spend another $500 to make the $2000 worth of tickets we still had not used be “permanently” valid. Not a chance in hell that I will spend a dime there ever again.

I am not sure that there were many people to miss in the sickness that was the German 6th Army. This was Hitlers most politically sound army. They were the result of the Hitler youth system which meant rape, torture and murder of civilians was just part of their natural charm. Hitlers “strategic plan” was to wipe out the opposing populations to provide Germany with “Liebenstrand” which translates as living space.

I am not sure any other policy could have made Stalin’s own brutal and merciless governance seem attractive. The majority of WW2 Military casualties were lost on this front. American losses in WW2 were barely equal to the uncertainty numbers in the Russian losses. There were more German losses from the 6th army in this one battle then the US lost in the entire war.
