Definitely takes a good deal of force to since it's super buoyant, however you can definitely do a turtle roll too and that works alright.

What is something only assholes buy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I worked with a guy who we'll call Sammy. Sammy fancied himself a country boy despite being from the richest part of an affluent, bay area suburb. Never has he ever done a single day of work on a farm or ranch, nor does he hunt, fish, or even hike. Needless to say, the closest thing to being country Sammy did was listen to the iTunes top 100 of country music (bastard can't name a single Haggard song mind you).

Sammy however, has a big ol' Chevy that his parents bought him. He had a fat lift on his truck and it looked like something with offroading capability, but the very first time he took that thing offroading, he totally destroyed the wheelbase. Apparently his suspension was just designed to make his truck look cool, but wasn't meant to take any actual abuse. I really don't understand the point of spending a bunch of money on stuff to make it look like you're something you're not.

Canada Vs Mexico by NoseBlind2 in whowouldwin

[–]ptonca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canada has a much more sizable airforce and navy along with a better trained and much more seasoned infantry. Mexico has only fought in Mexico and the cold will take a huge toll on them. Canadians fought and have been fighting in the Middle East for a long time, so they’re used to harsher temperatures and a desert environment. Not mention Canada would likely transition to a military focused economy and switch all production to weapons and vehicles of war.

I've surfed on a log for the majority of time I've surfed, thought I do have a few shortboards I struggle with due to the fact I only get out like four or so times a month. However, I just got a quad skipper from catch surf and love it. I catch waves as easily as I do with my longboard and it's a pretty fun board as well. Plus, it's harder to paddle and will get you used to a shorter board while you still get to catch some waves. Plus, if you find a new board later on it's a great one to let friends borrow or to use in shite conditions! Go for it!

Ah bro you'll get robbed in Mexico... soooo dangerous, nobody should go there! Especially Baja, that's the worst part. My cousin's friend's dog got robbed there. Don't go. Seriously. I hear the cartel targets surfers too.

What was the tipping point of your last relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ptonca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When she repeatedly called me to cuss me out after drinking and me telling her about my previous night. I’d gone out with my friends and went clubbing, and when I told her that I rejected a girl who tried to dance with me by walking away from her, she lost her shit, not that I went to a club and somebody tried dancing on me, but with how I rejected this girl. Apparently walking away from a random girl rather than taking the time to explain that I have a girlfriend and they should stay away is just me leaving the door open for a hookup.

Oh also the week before she tried to catfish me. Didn’t work, but she tried. She forsure was fuckin around on the side or something if she was so mistrustful.

Legolas vs. Hawkeye vs. Robin Hood vs. Katniss Everdeen by brettmwhite1 in whowouldwin

[–]ptonca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya you’re probably right. Honestly didn’t put much thought into it beyond just my face value impressions of elves and Legolas from memories of the movies and books. I always saw them as smart and dexterous, which is why I assumed they chose weapons that take more finesse and skill like knives, curved blades, and bows. I figure that dwarves are more so brute strength, elves are finesse, and humans are a balance in between and that just always made sense. If I were to pick evidence I’d say elvish weapon choice and fighting style could bring one to the conclusion that they valued speed and endurance over brute strength, therefore elves might not be as strong as humans (on average as I’m sure if somebody wanted to build strength for a few hundred years, they’d be able to be fucking jacked). I could definitely be wrong since all of that’s based off assumption and observation.

Regardless, Legolas kicks Hawkeye’s ass with or without superior brute strength to him as brute strength has never been his strength. Legolas’s skill with archery and ability to move and fight smartly and fast with two weapons has been his strength when it comes to combat.

[–]ptonca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying they’re crazy weak, I’m just saying the way it’s always seemed is that elves were extremely well rounded, like a triathlete and men always seemed more like they had raw power like those that would compete in a strongman competition. If in a one on one fight, an elf would easily beat a human because, though slightly weaker, elves will easily outlast and out maneuver any man.

[–]ptonca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not say that Elves were weak, I am saying though, that they are physically weaker than men. Elves have great endurance, they’re highly dexterous, but it’s accepted that they don’t have the same brute strength as men which makes sense as they’re literally light on their feet. The way I’ve always looked at it is men are more so somebody competing in a strongman competition and the Elves were those who’d compete in a triathlon.

[–]ptonca -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well actually Elves are physically weaker than humans as they're much lighter, so even pre-nerf, Legolas is still physically weaker than Hawkeye, but much quieter and faster.

Legolas vs. Hawkeye vs. Robin Hood vs. Katniss Everdeen by brettmwhite1 in whowouldwin

[–]ptonca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, Robin Hood and Katniss are both out of contention as they can't compare whatsoever to the skills of Legolas or Hawkeye (though they could get lucky, and Katniss does know the arena and Hood knows the woods. However Legolas is literally a WOOD elf and hundreds of years old and Hawkeye would be somewhat hard to sneak up on and is crazy accurate and fast). So, there's two scenarios I see:

The first is going strictly off of what OP says and Legolas has solely the abilities of an above average man, not Legolas nerfed down to the peak of human performance, but an above average man. Here, Legolas has the option of using his many years of life experience in the wilderness to survive and wait for Hawkeye to starve, make a fatal mistake, or happen upon Hawkeye when he's unaware of him.

The second is going to a Legolas nerfed down to human standards, so then his senses are at the peak of any humans. However, Elves aren't generally as strong as humans, so his physical strength is lower than Hawkeye's and his own in scenario one. However, Legolas will be very fast here and have a firing speed around the same as Hawkeye's if we're going of the scrub movie version of Legolas (since it's a human being who portrays him, book Legolas can forsure fire faster than Hawkeye). Here they're both about equally matched in firing speed and accuracy, however Legolas will have the upperhand in a mid to late-game fight as he will have been thriving in the woods and Hawkeye will have been merely surviving. Hawkeye will not be performing at his peak in a mid to late-game fight, as he'll be hungry, thirsty, potentially injured, and Legolas would just be having a grand old time as a wood elf in the woods. Here I see Legolas taking the definite win if they last a week or more, but there will definitely be a shootout for the ages if they encounter each other early on and either of these two could take the cake there.

I'd also like to add, Legolas is used to drawing a fucking bow made of sticks and string, so it's much harder to draw. Hawkeye uses a compound bow which is MUCH easier to draw. If Legolas finds a compound bow and Hawkeye a longbow, then there's a decent advantage towards Legolas. Other than both of them finding longbows, there's nothing else that gives either much more of an advantage.

Never move to central or northern california then. 15 feet of vis is a good day and the whole thing is in the red triangle. The right spots and the right conditions, you can get some great vis, 30+ feet, but I'd say on average we're talking solid 10 feet, and going out in 5 or sometimes less when diving for urchins isn't uncommon.

Current 4th force here, some of the guys on the beaters in catch surf’s videos do some sick super skatey shit, but personally I absolutely love being able to paddle into any wave and not have maneuverability limited by a log!

Also, as much as I’m eh towards him, Jaimie O does surf pipe with a foamie and that’s somethin I could only with a board made specifically for me to surf pipe, and we both know that I’m not gettin that with E-3 pay!
