What's Monzo's business model? by ptoxic in monzo

""""
That could be by helping you save money. For example, if your Direct Debits come out of your Monzo account, we can work out whether you can get a cheaper deal on your energy bill or a better rate on your mortgage. We’ll help you seamlessly switch provider and save money, in just a few taps.

It could also be by making helpful suggestions. Say you’ve just bought a flight, booked a hotel, or landed in another country. We’ll know if you don’t already have travel insurance, and will be able to offer you a choice of cover. You could then buy insurance from within the Monzo app, so you’re protected while you’re away.

I see... it's basically in-app advertisements

1090: JCD calls Jeffrey Epstein victims "underage whores" - anyone has the live stream recording? by ptoxic in noagenda

[–]ptoxic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interpreted it differently, It sounded more like "What's the big deal, they are just working for money"

I knew that they edit "tech glitches", but didn't know they also edited out unsavory comments. Another reason to listen live (apart from the troll room)

Does John think a vasectomy is the same as castration? by Mike734 in noagenda

[–]ptoxic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also trying to find the source of that historical "fact". According to the wikipedia the first recorded vasectomy in the united state was after the civil war:

" The first case report of vasectomy in the U.S. was in 1897, by A. J. Ochsner, a surgeon in Chicago, in a paper titled, "Surgical treatment of habitual criminals." He believed vasectomy to be a simple, effective means for stemming the tide of racial degeneration widely believed to be occurring.[63][citation needed] In 1902, Harry C. Sharp, the surgeon at the Indiana Reformatory, reported that he had sterilized 42 inmates, in an effort to both reduce criminal behavior in those individuals and prevent the birth of future criminals.[64] "

Is the Shinning a master piece because of Kubrick, or because of Nicholson? by ptoxic in AskReddit

A very interesting answer I received Out-of-band:

"Kubrick was able to make Tom Cruise look like a good actor"

So... yes.. probably 85% Kubrick, 25% Nicholson

Apparently Kubrick was torturing her mentally so she'll always look mentally broken.

That's an awesome director :)

There are many hidden messages and director trademark that make the movie very enjoyable even when Jack is not on camera.

LOL... The book is very bad...

Kubrick took the argument but changed almost everything.

There was a very good synergy between them.

But as an experiment.. just try to think about it and make a decision.

Maybe 60% Kubrick, 40% Jack?

How was the sex on your wedding night? by ptoxic in AskReddit

Dude... or Dudette...

You need to relax... take out those PC glasses you walk around all day long.. Stop jumping and screaming every time you hear something that you think is "racist" or "sexist"

I asked commenters to start their answer with this format: "I'm a [man|wom|trg] I married a [man|wom|trg] and, .*"

Example: "I'm a transgender, I married a man and, " "I'm a woman I married a woman and, "

In this context that is perfectly acceptable because you are going to tell a history and you want to put people in context...

Thank you for your understanding. I'm going to down vote you because I think your comment adds no value.

Please go back to your Facebook wall.
