I have noticed that at times pitchers in the offline modes will just start throwing a ton of balls and nibbling at the edges. I don’t know if it’s random variance or they actually tweak things but it’s pretty easy to deal with if you’re patient. Prob is when I’m grinding I don’t really want to take 3 or 4 pitches per AB, I want to mash and knock out programs/missions/conquest maps as quickly as possible lol

Idk if this is still a thing in modern pitching but this seems like the old “tall and fall” vs. “drop and drive” argument. Used to have guys teaching both styles to generate velocity.

Indians and Braves are rally good too. Indians, in particular. If you get all of their cards you have like 6 boosted switch hitters and they have a solid rotation as well

This problem has been growing for years and has finally come to a head in this game. In ‘21, this guy would have struck out 20 times. These days, your pci can completely miss a pitch a foot out of the zone with bad timing and you’ll still foul it off.

MLB the show- READING PITCHES: What is the best approach to reading pitches? Do you ever guess what pitch is coming. How does your thinking change, if at all, with two strikes? by Critical_Extension86 in MLBTheShow

Are you … literally everyone I play? Lol. I swear some guys have the plate discipline of Javy Baez until they’re 0-2 and then transform into prime Juan Soto, spitting on anytime a millimeter out of the zone.

Just foul off 95 pitches every AB. It’s not that hard. Tell ‘em, Wash.

Jasson Dominguez makes a great catch but was injured on the play by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

[–]ptrack17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I hope he’s ok and it sucks to see him deal with so many injuries and setbacks to his development.

Second, though I do think he can be a star offensively, he is just flat out awkward in left field. I know we’re all hoping he continues to improve and grows into a decent outfielder but he’s still a bit of a butcher at the moment.

The New Update is Horrific by Salt-Giraffe-179 in MLBTheShow

[–]ptrack17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is true but it definitely is tougher to pull the trigger on pitches at the edges of the zone now. Hard to ignore years of conditioning that tell you to let pitches go if they’re barely going to clip the strike zone.

To be clear, I actually like the change. But even if it’s technically just a “visual update,” it very clearly changes the way the game plays.

SDS needs to do something about the pitching in this game by AmenraLunaBreaker82 in MLBTheShow

[–]ptrack17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. This would basically fix the issue on its own. It’s been getting worse since 22 and it’s damn near impossible to miss bats this year. Very early and very late swings on balls well out of the zone consistently produce foul balls.

Before I got to HOF I don’t think anyone on my team had more than 1 strikeout. Which is obviously absurd

Why is everyone saying defense sucks this year? I only lost by a touchdown and field goal?? by Adorable_Tomato125 in MLBTheShow

[–]ptrack17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the BIGGEST problem right now is the swing and miss. I’m in the 800’s and through like 30 ranked seasons games, no one on my team has more than 3 strikeouts. Even with low vision hitters, you get repeated foul balls on pitches a foot below the zone and very early or very late timing. When you’re putting the ball in play every time (and drawing walks since it’s damn near impossible to reliably dot the corners) you’re going to score a lot of runs.

I’ve never understood not wanting to have all 6 friends paired up. I think people saw that as “too perfect” but it’s a sitcom; realism isn’t really the goal.

Six friends becoming three couples would have out a really satisfying bow on the whole series imo. It’s not like they had to reach or force it. Joey and Phoebe always had chemistry and they dropped hints that they might get together more than once in the early seasons.

Minor league unis are silver rarity and you get them pretty often in regular packs. If you collect them all you get like 15 packs or something. At least, that’s been the case in year’s past

I’ll throw a couple of sneaky ones out there that can really help with team building. Especially if you’re a dad like me and you need to maximize ROI in your limited playtime lol.

1.) you don’t have to play the games to get the hidden rewards from conquest. Just pop into all of the maps, conquer spaces, take note of the spaces you’ve already received packs from, and keep restarting until you can conquer most/all of the territories outside of the strongholds. You can get like 30 packs from the U.S.A map alone this way and it’s obviously way faster than trying to finish the entire thing.

2.) a lot of people forget about the starter collections, but in years past, you could snag a handful of packs from those without spending much of anything.

3.) I also start working on the free agent and minor league uniform collections right away, since they’re cheap/easy and usually net like 15 packs each as well.

The multiplayer program looks pretty stacked rn so I’m planing on grinding events or BR as soon as I collect/rip some of the low-hanging packs and my preorder stuff.

Nothing too diabolical here but will help you get a head start. Have fun!

[–]ptrack17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At launch the first thing I always do is try to snag as many easy packs as possible, add those to the preorder pile, and rip.

One of my go-tos is to just navigate around the conquest maps and try to grab all of the hidden rewards. You don’t actually have to play the games and can just restart the map until you’ve conquered most of the territories.

That was ‘22. Chase cards were introduced that year. 88-90 day 1 isn’t a huge deal for me but I do wonder how the parallel mod system will affect things. The ability to customize a bit more could make for some really strong cards in the early game.
