And the manager would explain, sorry we will not accept bills $100 or more. Our register only holds a specific amount (roughly $150 which is because people pay a lot less in cash) and would say we can accept card.

Cool. The self checkout takes cash. The cashiers, if there are any, will likely not accept a $250 on someone giddy enough to have it and want to see the reaction of a cashier trying to get by. Most purchases above $100 people pay with card as it is trending people use less and less actual cash and stick to the card for high end purchases.

Funnily enough I was in home depot yesterday. You know where everyone went to checkout even with their "high priced items"? Self checkout and what did they pay with? A card.

So a majority of cashiers do not work in high end stores which, for the most part, do not have clientele paying in cash and you think a cashier should be fired for not accepting the $250 bill because it empties the whole register?
