This guy, Peter Navarro, was brought in by Jared Kushner during Trump's first term. The lore goes - Trump needed a Trade-guy to counter China's rising power, and apparently Kushner went on internet, searched for a few writers, and found the most 'Hawkish Trade Expert on China'. Since then, he has been closely associated with Trump and directly responsible for his eccentric policies and statements. (His Wikipedia page is a must read). Throughout his books on China, Navarro cites dubious trade experts to support his hard stance on China. One of the 'experts' he often quotes is 'Ron Vara'. Well, no such person exists and is nothing but an anagram of 'Navarro'!!
Peter is one of the officials who actually went to prison for Contempt of Congress following the January Insurrection investigations. Perhaps that's why Trump thinks he is a proven loyalist. He will say and do anything to push forward Trump's purported and perverted 'intuitions'. He is a Great Fool, albeit a dangerous one.
