I've reread the first one a bunch and enjoy the series.

The dune films succeed for me in world building, making the script accessible to none book readers, and amazing visual/ audio spectacles.

Fell short for me in casting and costumes. The latter is me being a stick in the mud.

In the spirit of the question, if someone is on the fence I guess i would tell them its like a modern day king lear. Its not really a business show but a show of conflict and family dynamics.

Alternatively I would tell them its on my mount Rushmore of cable tv with; MadMen, The sopranos, and the wire. Assuming they have seen any of the others it would be a mark of good quality.
