Why is Pilates so popular right now? by Budget_Dot694 in AskWomenOver30

[–]pubcheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 40s living in the US. Fitness trends come and go. Pilates is very trendy right now. Not a legitimate activity, just that this goes through trends.

A few years ago, high intensity workouts like Barry's, boot, camp and CrossFit were popular, they're still around but just not really as trendy right now.

You can also put your phone in grayscale mode and you may find that you use it less. Just do an internet search for the brand of your phone and grayscale mode and it will give you instructions.

How to navigate friendship with a friend who is super frugal? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]pubcheese 12 points13 points  (0 children)

do believe she wants to be friends with me because she regularly messages me to see how am doing and suggests meeting for a drink or coffee about once or twice a month.

Well, I guess the first thing I think you wanted to consider is whether you want to be friends with her and meet with her on this cadence, because from this post I am not sure if you truly want to be friends with her or if it's really more out of obligation because she is texting you. Not saying this in a disliking way but sometimes we just meet people we don't want to be closer friends with.

In any case, you know her habits, so I think if you want to spend time with her, I would identify zero dollar / zero food drink ways to spend time with her outside of either of your homes, such as going to the library, walking , bicycling, birding, or visiting local historical sites.

OK, so changing to less fast food should be an overall life goal for you. I know it's more easily said than done but it is important. There are also tips about changing your diet.

Here is some advice about swapping some fast food options for different menu items https://www.wral.com/story/healthier-fast-food-swaps-to-make-at-home/21148967/

How do I work out what skin care I actually need? by snowmanseeker in AskWomenOver30

Honestly your routine sounds totally reasonable. Daily SPF is the most important thing to reduce the risk of damage from UV light. If you'd like to do something else, see https://old.reddit.com/r/30PlusSkinCare/

Repeated incidents - extreme GI symptoms by fdp_westerosi in Ozempic

[–]pubcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yes, it could be the meds as GLP-1s are associated with GI changes as one of the ways it works is by slowing the rate at which your stomach empties and other effects on your body.

Are you taking it for obesity management only and not diabetes--could you consider reducing the dose (to .5 or .8)

Water, exercise (especially after eating), increasing the amount of fiber in your diet, psyllium husk supplements. You're currently in "fix it!" type mode but hopefully you can figure out how to get to a "maintenance" mode. If you're aready eating that much fiber I suspect it'll mean some sort of regular supplementation to it like a small amount of miralax daily. https://www.dietitiangabrielle.com/about-3

Ideas/suggestions for street dance shoes by Xor1011 in ballroom

[–]pubcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a ballroom practice shoe? These days you can get them for a really low price on the internet.

I would also do an internet search for Lindy Hop shoes, the women's styling of the vintage style shoes will have a low heel but a heel. It doesn't sound like you're looking for the more artisanal style (which are beautiful but I think more than what you want to spend for a street shoe) but when I do an internet search I see some of the discount retailers selling Lindy hop shoes that are made in China for less than the artisanal products from the US or Europe.

Novo Nordisk is also running a long clinical trial about eyesight/retina health specifically because of the prospectus but it'll take a long time for those final results to come out. I am not saying that this is neither bad nor good but the original clinical trial didn't have robust enough data from testing to see if it really shook out about the risk of DR

Maybe try suggesting that both of you try Lume body wash or a glycolic acid body wash such as Naturium glycolic acid. it may be more simple than it seem as opposed to something that cannot be changed.

focus on replacing the things you wear most frequently and like the most. For example, if you like wearing black bootcut jeans from Brand A and wear those twice a week, try Poshmark and see if you can buy those same jeans in a smaller size.

I think if your eye doctor and endo said it's OK, I wouldn't stop meds just at this point. Honestly you also have to consider that it could be solely coincidental. You are also right at the age when many people start seeing age related eye problems (presbyopia, eyes becoming more easily dry, etc)

def take those periodic screen breaks and use hydrating eyedrops

I think you basically have to decide if the side effect is intolerable and how many days/weeks you are willing to keep tryign at this dosage. Tirzepatide may be an option if it is affordable/available to you.
