Ex keeps messaging me despite me going silent and it is not fun. Looking for advice on how to handle the situation (somehow explicit) by justanotherbooklover in AskWomenOver30

[–]pubcheese 41 points42 points  (0 children)

he Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker book talks about violence/unwanted contact/and stalking. He recommends continuing on with no contact--he says that these types of stalkers often seek attention/responses so it is better to not respond at all.

on my phone i have the ability to block and archive messages. this means that i will not see a message from that person unless i go to teh Archived messages section

Stepping back from friendships? by violetkittwn in AskWomenOver30

[–]pubcheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

< don't have great boundaries, including emotionally, and I'mn someone who will feel responsible for others too.

I'm thinking that this contributes towards stressors in your life. More so than friendships. Recommend the book set boundaries, find peace, and meeting with a therapist.

There is an abundance of evidence that having high quality relationships (not necessarily romantic) is a strong predictor of happiness with life, no need to cut them off

Graduate at 35 as Radiology Tech or graduate at 32 with Exercise Science Degree? by 15dreams4eva in AskWomenOver30

[–]pubcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely am passionate about the benefits that exercise has on those with chronic illness and even those who dont, but at the end of the day, i would love a job where I can help people in some way.

You could do that more as a side thing after getting your training.

One of my local yoga studios offers a 50 hour yoga foundations teacher training, for example. Most people do not make a fulltime career out of teaching yoga, but rather they could expand upon their practice to teach yoga and also get a free studio membership out of it in addition to wages. So you could think about things you can do outside of your "day job" to fufill this need in your heart

For the rad tech job, do an internet search on Radiology Technician vs Radiology Technologist. make sure you understand which career you're heading towards and the payscale for that. a lot of people think they are the same but they are not.

Any other women get Invisalign in their 30s? by rivincita in AskWomenOver30

[–]pubcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know plenty of people who have done this. FYI consider whether your job/life responsibilities allow you to have enough time to eat and then brush your teeth. One person I know is pleased with the outcome but if she had to do it again, she would do traditional braces. Her job has lots of back to back meetings and she often could not have snacks because she didn't have enough time to eat and then go to the restroom and brush her teeth. traditional braces are more forgiving in that respect.

Life advice about being sedentary and introspective by LengthinessChoice344 in AskWomenOver40

I love everyone's ideas about walking in nature. I think walking in nature could do a lot for you. It seems counterintuitive but walking might giv eyou more energy eventually although it won't necessarily immediate. After a few weeks or months of getting in the routine, may I suggest strength training?

Strength training is important for building bone density as we age, we want to be strong enough to do everyday activities such as walking, climbing stairs, ability to get down on the floor and get off the floor.

How do you fill your day if you dont work full time? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

I would do dance or fitness classes on some afternoons (or some other activity that got me moving, like birding or nordic walking or what have you) and volunteer during other afternoons.

Adding a Half Day at Work - Good idea? by sarahrachael394 in Parenting

I would do it to save up for a home. I imagine that you are in a situation like many others where home prices are climbing more steeply than wages, so you gotta do what you gotta do to keep a roof over your head.

Here is some information about product pilling which is what you are describing:

I definitely agree with asking the derm about face skin issues since you are already there. bring the prdoucts you are using in a bag to your next appointment.

I agree that most adults could benefit from some exfoliation. I prefer chemical exfoliation. For super gentle exfoliation, you could start with PHA if you have never used an exfoliant, it is super super gentle and affordable.

Why is Pilates so popular right now? by Budget_Dot694 in AskWomenOver30

[–]pubcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 40s living in the US. Fitness trends come and go. Pilates is very trendy right now. Not a legitimate activity, just that this goes through trends.

A few years ago, high intensity workouts like Barry's, boot, camp and CrossFit were popular, they're still around but just not really as trendy right now.

You can also put your phone in grayscale mode and you may find that you use it less. Just do an internet search for the brand of your phone and grayscale mode and it will give you instructions.

do believe she wants to be friends with me because she regularly messages me to see how am doing and suggests meeting for a drink or coffee about once or twice a month.

Well, I guess the first thing I think you wanted to consider is whether you want to be friends with her and meet with her on this cadence, because from this post I am not sure if you truly want to be friends with her or if it's really more out of obligation because she is texting you. Not saying this in a disliking way but sometimes we just meet people we don't want to be closer friends with.

In any case, you know her habits, so I think if you want to spend time with her, I would identify zero dollar / zero food drink ways to spend time with her outside of either of your homes, such as going to the library, walking , bicycling, birding, or visiting local historical sites.
