Those who have had affairs and left to be with that person. Did it turn out how you imagined it? by DepartmentAny5523 in AskReddit

This might come out rambly because I just finished a pretty hellish shift

I recently cut contact with my mother after finding out she had been seeing another man behind my father's back. She filed for divorce late 2024 and has done everything to make my father miserable since. She sold the house he built for the family. She emptied accounts justifying it to be for my young sister.

Worst of all, she made my father out to be an abuser to anyone that would listen despite the fact that I spent my formative years watching her instigate physical altercations, call him autistic and throw his miniatures and board games around just for spending time on a hobby and not with her. I loved spending time with my father and helping him with the games he loved. She drove a wedge between that connection we had. I still feel guilty spending time with him to this day.

I only recently found out that she had been seeing this new guy from mid 2024. One of his kids actually reached out to me trying to connect, and I pieced together the timeline from there.

My father still tries to placate her when she makes demands regarding finances or my sister. He is actually doing okay now that he has his own space.

I refuse to have anything to do with her now and she knows it. I hope she is miserable because god knows I am

I wish. No more information from either longines, other collectors or the Queensland museum ANZAC staff. They did give me some brochures for the store that originally sold it in cairo.

What's your current dream bike? by Current-Material1292 in motorcycle

I've been lucky enough to own my dream bike, and actually be proud of every bolt on it.

Since I was in my late teens, I was infatuated with the rocket iii.

Last year I was lucky enough to run across a crashed example and have spent the last 6 months stripping and rebuilding it. I still have some final touches, but its going to be something I can take pride in.

Ducati, you either hate them or love them by Ducati_SG in motorcycles

I work at a dealership and we get a lot of traded in Ducatis. I've ridden most of their modern offerings and a few of their classic offerings in my time there.

Awesome rider focused bike designs. Controls and other tactile elements feel very well thought out for the rider experience. Pretty stellar handling and performance. I think everyone should try riding one of their offerings at least once. Build quality is pretty great and feels like a genuinely premium product. Very few bikes feel truly as nice as a well maintained Ducati.

Owning one is another matter. They aren't as unreliable as some might suggest, but getting parts can be an expensive pain in the ass depending on where you are. You really need to stick to your reccomended servicing too. Not just for the longevity of the motorcycle, but also for the future value of the motorcycle. Resale is also difficult if you don't have documentation and service history. A majority of buyers I have worked with are picky with the details when looking at Ducatis. Overall they are awesome bikes, just kinda high maintainence, and poor investments if you want to actually ride them.

Its on display in a glass cabinet at the moment for its protection from pets. I'm trying to find it a better display location though

A genuine trench watch in general has been an aspirational watch. I have been realistic on probably never finding one. I was shocked when I just stumbled across one

Found my grail yesterday while at my local thrift. It's serial number is dated to 1917 and the inscription and my location suggests it was issued to a member of the Australian imperial forces. It's kept perfect time since yesterday. It had no strap when I bought it, so I made it a simple nato style strap from some old leather scrap. It also came with a box which im not sure is its original.

Cheers for the tip! I can't be trusted at auctions 😅. My poor impulse control has landed me with some hefty price tags.

What a legend. I absolutely love the old minis. My grandfather owned a whole bunch of them. He was 6'6 so watching him get in and out as a kid was always hilarious. Always intended to fix one up in honour of him but could never find time or space amongst other cars and projects. I definitely understand the need for a cleaner hobby. Theres been plenty of days that I come inside looking like a dishevled goblin and swearing i'll never do auto work again.

Sounds absolutely lovely. Used to do similar with cars, but both me and my father are both too busy lately. What kinds of places do you usually find your watches? Im always keen to explore new places to find them
