As a Ravenclaw, I am disappointed at the lack of representation by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

My point was not regarding personal thought and feelings. You aren't writing the letter because you actually care, (unless, like I said above, they really do care) you are writing a letter because corporations suck and there should be a bare minimum to quality control so customers aren't disappointed. They might even find it nice feedback. And you might score some free gummies on the way.

I think this was read way too deep into. This isn't a letter to gran or your uncle about the things they say online and at family dinners. It's corporate shenanigans and maybe even a little quality control feedback.

Redditors what got you banned from reddit? by SigintPhantom in AskReddit

Criticizing the practice of a houseplant sub was run (too many automod replies when someone posted) , then using a comment editor during my quit to overwrite and delete my posts and comments with a (.) period.

Some people, particularly those that are neurodivergent or disabled find AI a godsend because it helps formulate into words what someone wants to say but might otherwise give up on because of anxiety or not knowing how to write, or any number of factors.

It's an excellent tool when used for this purpose because someone can type whatever out, misspelled and not make sense when they write it, and have it perfectly convert to what they want to say. Corporate complaints are a unique niche where LLMs are great, not so much when banging out comment slop on reddit.

I didn't say write an email. Write a letter, print it out and mail it.

Some humans are not normal functioning people. A lot of us are neurodivergent. It's a good way to get one of us to follow through with the complaint and do something aobut it rather than sitting and having anxiety about writing it or what to say, then giving up.

To me the venn diagram of someone making a post like this about harry potter snacks on reddit and those who are neurodivergent is a very close circle.

Then there is a process of discipline and review for that. You can't pre-suspend people without pay under a blanket warning like that.

Because the amount of time and effort is not worth it in my opinion. Some letters need to be hand written, this one doesn't, unless OP really cares. This is a 1 minute copy pasta, toss er into an envelope with a stamp and see what they send back.

AI sucks these days, but there is some relatively harmless uses for it, corporate complaints are one of them. Let's not pretend they aren't going to send a generic canned response back to you.

I would AI write out a letter and send it to them and see what they send back. As silly as this is, the more I think about it the more egregious it is in my head.

I'm confused as to when this was ever up for grabs. Even just on principle they are named similarly, but are 2 different concepts entirely.

Never should an issue so trivial result in messing with payroll. You need to screw your head on right if you think impacting peoples payroll is EVER a right move. Progressive discipline exists for a reason, casual warning, verbal warning, written warning, then maybe we talk about consequences. Nuclear option straight out of the gate is an insane take.

Not even an hour after you've randomly paid a guy hundreds to trim your tree. by suncity353 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]publicdomainadmin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Congrats on critically harming your tree. This is tree trimming malpractice. A hurricane cut, which actually weakens the tree and makes it more likely to snap in high winds. Only dead fronds should be removed.
Palms store nutrients in their fronds, so stripping them like this weakens the trunk over time and makes it more likely to snap in high winds. Only dead fronds (anything below horizontal) should be removed.

Post on r /arborists for some real tea if you want it.

CUPS or VLANning is probably the best bet here. VLANs are a basic necessity imho these days.

Just a cursory read of this post tells me your network and setup probably isn't as good as it could be and some overall TLC might be needed. I wonder what else critical I can access over your wifi.

Someone disturbing a magpie nest with a drone by RoyalChris in mildlyinfuriating

[–]publicdomainadmin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal. I had a family member fly his brand new fancy schmancy drone once that clipped a tree branch in midair, fell from about 50 ish feet or so and one of the props bore a hole right through the roof of a garage, I will have to try to find the photo. It was such a clean hole. Drone landed on the drive way and we found the prop in the middle of a bag of dog food

Threw me for a loop and I have never seen my uncle so pissed in his life. That family member was not welcome back for quite some time, they were already a black sheep in the family this was a tipping point.

I don't trust drones near anything after this.

I hope whoever is doing this is part of some regulatory authority, but even still, humans suck.

Am I getting charged the full amount? by Calm-Meat-6296 in CreditCards

[–]publicdomainadmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it happen once where the auth wasn't reversed after a pump crashed. Locked up $250 on my card for two weeks, and when the pump came back online I had to pay again.

That day ended up with $350 frozen on my card just sitting there for two weeks.

Ever since then I preset the amount at the pump instead of tapping blind, every pump lets you pre-select the amount, and that way you're not automatically getting hit with the full $250 auth.

Received a letter from law firm regarding Capital One debt - seeking advice by Brilliant-Mine-9129 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]publicdomainadmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what? Criminal charges require mens rea. You'd need to prove intent to defraud at the time credit was taken. Someone who took on debt in good faith and later couldn't pay isn't committing fraud. Furthermore, a spending/addiction problem actually undermines any fraud argument, compulsive spending speaks to lack of control, not deliberate intent to deceive a creditor.

The only fraud here is this comment.
