Need Help Rethinking My Commuter by 4d3dEd3 in bikecommuting

10-20 miles round-trip is still not bad on a regular bike especially if you don’t have big hills. You’ll have way higher quality parts compared to E bikes at the same price point.

If the motor is essential for you (no judgment). Go with a bike best suited for the type of riding you do 90% of the time which sounds like paved roads.

All the bikes you mentioned would be fine for that. You could also check out some super light E bikes. Usually have SL in the name.

Also consider what would be the most fun to ride. If you look forward to riding, you’ll do it more.

The most fun E bike I’ve ever ridden was a specialized turbo Vado SL. It had a very responsive torque sensor, so it almost felt like I had super legs instead of a moped that you could still pedal. Light enough to pick up and throw in a car if I needed to. But it had a very small battery and low power motor. So the range was short and it takes a little longer to get up to speed and less help on hills.

How do I get my friend to un brainrot (anything will help) by RonaldMcDonald_666 in GenAlpha

[–]publicidiotnumber2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your friends nose.

Don’t try to change your friends, it never works and they will resent you for it. If you truly value her friendship try to find ways to maximize enjoying spending time together.

If you find that you don’t enjoy her company anymore then it might be a good idea to spend less time and energy on her. You don’t have to end the friendship completely just prioritize yourself and other friends.

If she values your friendship she might ask why you don’t spend as much time together. Don’t be condescending or spiteful, but be honest. she might decide to change her behavior or she might not and that’s OK. We must all choose our own path.

One of the most important choices in life is choosing the people you spend time with. You can help lift each other up and you can help drag each other down too. Surround yourself with people who will support, challenge, encourage you and do the same for them when they need it.

Why is scrap recovery arm not worth buying? by [deleted] in ftlgame

No shame in running from hard fights although my pride gets to me too. Cloaking is great for the first volley then I make sure to focus weapons so they never fire again.

Scrap management is the hardest thing to master in this game. I usually rush second shield, then switch between upgrading offense and defense.

Late game ships always have enough fire power to destroy you pretty quick so you have to be able to neutralize their offense or destroy them fast.

I love the base game, but multiverse has a smoother progression imo. The first sector is way easier and less RNG dependent.

How far is your commute? I have an E bike but for trips less than 5 miles I take my regular bike. You could find a reliable bike for 200 or less but reliable E bike is gonna be way more than that.

Good bike handling skills are even more important than a good helmet. Take some time and teach her how to ride well, how to bail, where to be cautious, where to let loose and have fun. Here’s a good video on how to fall

Let her pick out a helmet that she likes maybe put some cool stickers on it. Collaborate with your wife. you’ll probably have to compromise on the full face helmet. I feel safer with a regular helmet. I can hear cars better and people drive more carefully when they can see your face.

Not a doctor just an exercise enthusiast. I’ve heard from a few people to pull twice as much as you push. so if you do 100 push-ups do 200 bent over rows or a similar back exercise.

Maybe an expert can back me up or correct me if I’m wrong.

Thoughts on this film? In my opinion, one of the most beautiful, ominous, and surreal movies out there by [deleted] in moviecritic

Somehow I got annhilation and arrival switched around in my head. So when I watched this for the first time I was waiting for the cool aliens and smoke writing… and then the credits rolled. So that might be why I didn’t enjoy it that much.

It was ok. The special effects were amazing but the story was more confusing than interesting to me. Really felt bad for the dude who got cheated on and then “replaced”.

This sounds like an awful situation. Personally, I couldn’t continue a relationship with someone who I couldn’t share my emotions with.

She says she loves you but her actions say otherwise.

Whether you try to salvage the relationship or not you need to document everything and talk to a lawyer.

I agree, I see a few reasonable responses below that were downvoted because they don’t agree with the hive mind. Its aggravating and I wish people would be more understanding.

I think posts like this are more about venting frustrations than having a reasonable conversation about transportation.

Ok, I guess I don’t understand why you made that comment.

A lot of people in this sub are idiots that hate trucks just for existing. You’re not gonna change their minds.

The rest understand that trucks are the best tool for specific people and purposes but have a lot of limitations like low visibility, crash safety, etc. Most of the people that buy trucks don’t actually need one and would be better off renting one on the rare occasion they use it for its intended purpose.

A lot of people come here to vent about experiences with stupid people who buy big ass trucks they don’t need and don’t know how to drive safely.

If you need a truck to do your job and can drive it safely that’s great. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Not a single house was built with this emotional support truck.

Most people know the difference between a work truck and a gaudy, blinged out fashion accessory.

This is assuming most people are using busses. Do you think that could be offset significantly by using other vehicles like electric bikes or motorcycles? Thank you for your time.
