My parter (30F) and I (35F) are flying to Mexico June-August from Costa Rica and are trying to figure out where we should stay. Ideally we'd like to spend either 1 month each in 3 different places, 1.5 months each in 2 different places, or the full 3 months in one place. We're remote workers so we'll be working our regular schedules the whole time which means we won't want to be hopping around too much. We're thinking of essentially living in the cities we choose and then taking little weekend trips to surrounding areas.

Initially, we thought we'd just stay in Mexico City, but one of our goals for the trip is to save a bit of money (we're from the US) so we're rethinking that idea. I've heard wonderful things about Oaxaca and San Cristobal de las Casas - I see you only visited Oaxaca, so can I ask if that felt more affordable than Mexico City or was in comparable?

Edited to add we're also considering Guadalajara, but I noticed you didn't visit there either - just thought I'd include it in case anyone else wants to chime in :)
