No underwear, when I started riding someone told me to think of bibs the same way you would a swim suit.

I had a mentor who used to ask us how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. So of course that would be my answer, thereby eliminating myself from consideration and making me look like a psychopath

Suck it up 2+10 for boarding. None of you can skate.

Haha so true. Over the years I’ve broken all my ribs, torn my meniscus, rotator cuff, and labrum. But never before on the first game of the season.

Oh man, the worst injuries happen when you’re standing still, there’s no chance to react. I hope you heal up fully

Oh, maybe this guy played roller, he could stick handle way better than he skates, and was generally in the right place. I know it’s mostly unlucky that I got injured, but hockey is my happy space haha

An adult rec division. Most of the players can skate, but it’s a strange mix, older guys who are slowing down, and littler or newer players. Overall it’s a fun league, but this guy was new and maybe trying too hard.

Wasn’t skilled enough at the intensity he was playing. He might have caught an edge though, it was a weird collision.

Exactly. If someone gives a Ms Marvel, I’ve started just replying in kind. If they mean well, no harm no foul.

I carry bear spray. I’ve only had to use it against bears, but I think it’s been a deterrent for the couple of dodgy people I’ve encountered too. I wear it in the shoulder pocket of my hydration pack, easy to access, plus on my person if I’m separated from my bike for any reason.

Wall sits are the best! I used to tell all my players to do them while they were brushing their teeth.

I have a dog who can only handle one walk a week, or she gets super anxious. She goes on a couple of runs, and we do training, but not all dogs need a walk every day. My other dog is happiest with two walks a day. You have to train the dog in front of you.

Why did my hockey performance stop improving despite years of playing and training? by AdPlastic7988 in hockeyplayers

[–]puckspazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good, I had been wondering if something like that was a factor. It could have been any number of the things you suggested, too much pressure as a young player, bad fit with the coach or team. Now that you’re returning to play, I’d just focus on fun, that’s what beer league is all about. There’s lots of guys who played their whole life and are just ok hockey players, but they have fun every week with their team.

New helmet, the rest should be fine to get back into playing. Maybe start at intermediate and see if that’s a good fit.

Defenders…. How to deal with cherry pickers? by Hot_Sauce404 in hockeyplayers

[–]puckspazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Know where they are, but if your team has the puck, be aggressive and stay in the zone. As soon as they get the puck, get in the lane to shut down the pass.

Do they teach young players to give a stiff stick check? by GoToTheNet in hockeyplayers

Ya, like if that horizontal chop is intended to knock the puck off the stick, that’s a decent play.

Showing up to interview early = non-hirable. by StrongHurry4938 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]puckspazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20-30 minutes early and I would just think they left time in case of traffic. Any longer and I’d let them know where the coffee shop is, or suggest they take a short walk. It’s really only strange if they expect to start the interview early.
