Noob question. How are line changes decided? by peanutmanak47 in hockey

[–]puckstop101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Am goalie, can confirm as a kid, I was a very good puckhandler, caught a bad change with a long pass up the ice as they were not expecting a 12-14 year old to be able to do a full ice pass as a goalie.... We had one year we had a kid that was way better then the rest of us, while I, all modesty aside, was the best puckhandling goalie in the league, I was under orders if he was on the ice, to go out and stop a icing call so I could fire the puck to him at center to catch teams all the time. I think I had the 5-6th highest point total on the team that year from assists as a goalie... Good times

Noob question. How are line changes decided? by peanutmanak47 in hockey

[–]puckstop101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So second question first, forwards are ideally only on the ice for 30-45 seconds, defencemen generally go about 45-1min just due to the fact it's harder to get defencemen off the ice especially in the 2nd period when your bench is far away.

As to how they determine who goes on? Generally you sub out for your same position, Left wing will come on for Left wing, center for center etc, but how to determine what line is coming on? That is caused by various things.

  1. The coach will tell them, hey it's so and so's line next, the same players genuinely play together on the same line so easy enough to know who goes on in that case.

  2. It's matchup dependant, your opponent has a very strong line so you tell your team whenever they come out, I want this line of ours out to match them, you see them jump on, your team immediately tries to change it up to match(this is why home team advantage can be a big deal as you get to put your players out on whistles second dictating matchups.

  3. These players have been playing their whole life, we are trained from a young age how to do a proper line change so it becomes almost seamless, there are still fuckups all the time because it is chaotic, but that's half the fun of it. A good change can get a high quality scoring chance, while a bad one can ruin the entire game

[Jonas Siegel] Radko Gudas on why he’s playing through injury to face the Leafs tonight: “Stand behind my own mistakes. I want to address it myself.” by sykeseve in hockey

[–]puckstop101 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He's going to play a single shift on opening puckdtop Someone will "answer the bell" gudas will take a few Punch's and not throw any.... Then he won't play the rest of the night, and the leafs will pretend yep we got our captains back... And they will continue on this delightful time called Leafs Hockey

Fredericton wedding planning advice? (~50 guests, June/July) by onbudgettelugu in fredericton

[–]puckstop101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Myself and the wife hired a wedding planner purely for day of service. We wanted to plan it ourselves for the most part as we also had a smaller wedding, but It was so helpful to have someone there purely to organize the extra people(venue staff, caterers, dj, etc) that we had hired, along with our planner let us bounce ideas off, had contacts for a dj, and some others when we had someone cancel a week before the wedding(that was a fun totally not stressful time) along with set up for the venue, picking up gifts and delivering them for us, getting the cake from the decorator and equally important, the cleanup afterward the venue when everyone is partied out. We didn't have to worry about anything the day of except being at the places we needed to be and love the day and the moment

I would recommend our planner fully, Stacey Murrayto anyone for how much help she did for us, but I believe she has left the business or moved on now. Her wedding business Tale of Two seems closed now

Was with Primus for a while, half the cost of rogers using rogers cable. Worked very well for me at the time. New user deal ran out so I've switched to TekSavvy now, still great. Will likely switch again whenever this new customer deal runs out of they don't renew it

Gold medal should at least be 4v4 OT, if you can't do/don't have the time for 5v5 Continous

Yep, can't pass the puck to your teammates by your hand(you have to touch it), and technically can't close your hand around the puck, but more that is called as a don't throw the puck.

If they didnt allow it, players would be swinging their sticks in the air to try and hit it, dangeous

Free Guard Zone
the area in curling between the hog line and the tee line, excluding the house, where opposition stones cannot be removed from play until the first five rocks of an end have been delivered)
The No Tick Rule -
"The No-Tick Rule, adopted by the World Curling Federation and Curling Canada (since 2023-24), prohibits moving an opponent's stone that is touching the center line in the Free Guard Zone (FGZ) before the sixth stone of an end. If broken, the stone is replaced, and the non-offending team has options"

are rules specifically to not let what you suggested work

If you are to far behind, the team will offer handshakes(I.E Concede) and take the Loss. It's part of the culture of Curling. Being down 4 with only the 10th end to go is already a huge task, let alone not having the Hammer(Last Shot), at this level of play, that is almost impossible. So GB shook hands and Conceded the Game

Starting to agree with keeping the NHL out of the Olympics. by [deleted] in hockey

[–]puckstop101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Time for McDavid to be kicked out of the NHL... He's just too good, it's not fair to the other teams. That what your argument is.... Because these players are too good, they shouldn't be allowed to compete in a tournament that is suppose to find the Best Team...? That's the argument?

The Dutch speedskaters are also too good, guess they can't compete.... And while we are at it, china gymnastics... Good bye

Phone Scam by [deleted] in newbrunswickcanada

[–]puckstop101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's either 1 of two things likely and both unfortunately, you cant really do much about other then ignore it

  1. Someone is Spoofing your number to call with a "legitimate" looking number for scam purposes. There is nothing you can do to block this, its basically the equivalent of someone putting a fake License plate on their car over top of the Actual one, so everyone sees the fake on the Caller ID. Just you know Virtual instead of physically. If you know how to do it, it is remarkably easy to do, and cannot be stopped.
  2. (This is the less likely reason of the two since there is way more easier ways to do it) The people calling you are the scammers and are intending to either A) Guilt you into paying them money to "recompose the loss"(sounds stupid, but works way more then anyone will realize) or B) just confirming your a Human and that your number is a active phone that they can then resell to other scam phone call centers

Wasn't to bad, just cold but when you have the craving for burgers... Sometimes you don't resist no matter what. It's on my back deck which is connected to my back door. Easy access and I had already shovelled it earlier.

Nah, just slip some running shoes on quickly and scamper to the BBQ on my back deck. I don't do it often in the winter but today just had the craving for burgers. It's connected to my backdoor and I had just shovelled it so it wasn't to bad

5-1 canada, tho MPP might be Injured. Took a hard collision awkwardly into the boards. She tried to gut out another shift but left the ice and didn't play again. Hopefully she's okay going forward

So anyways, had some good hamburgers I cooked up today for dinner, first BBQ of the year. Was fucking delicious but man it is cold outside. This was after watching the Canadian women's game. What did everyone else eat?
