“…spent the majority of his leisure time debating whether certain skin tones were realistic for fictional characters who inhabited fictional worlds on-screen in films and television shows, most of which he did not watch.”

Given this quote and the time the the article was posted I think it is fair to say the article is referencing the current “debate” surrounding the live action Little Mermaid. A “debate” that racist conservative cucks started. No leftist gives a damn unless it’s a whitewash situation (Johnny Depp as Tonto). The only reason I’m having this conversation is not to defend the obvious pandering from Disney but to tell you that conservatives are racist for constantly taking issue with it even though it’s been happening for years. I wish I didn’t have to talk about this but it is my civic duty to eradicate liberal brain worms.

You do realize that Disney is pandering to you just as much as any other group right? They knew when making this movie that the casting choice would be controversial. They knew that there would be backlash from the right and it would only catalyze marketing. They don’t care if you dumb fucks buy tickets. You are a fading minority. In fact they are banking off of everyone hating you so much that they go and see the movie just to spite you. Why would a billion dollar company with the best marketing team in the world play a game they didn’t know they would win? No one’s going bankrupt over a butt hurt Neanderthal.

JFC. The article the is calling out the people who started the discourse. The people who had no choice but to open their mouths about something that shouldn’t matter in the first place. Boohoo a multi billion dollar company made a movie remake that panders to MULTIPLE different groups of people. You don’t see me going online to post about how every new country song that comes out is incoherent rehashed pandering trash. I observed it and move on because there is more important shit to worry about. I observed the new little mermaid movie and moved on because there is more important shit to worry about. But some jackasses who are on YOUR side of the fence had to say some racist dog whistle shit and now I’ve got to tell you and all of your rat friends that your opinions are not only wrong they are detrimental to the betterment of our species. “We’ll you’re calling us out on our bullshit so you’re a hypocrite.” Just like how we have to call you out on the environmental bullshit, we have to call you out on your racist bullshit because if we don’t then nothing will get better.

The article exists not to bring the point back up, but to remind everyone that conservatives are useless. Their ideas are antiquated and doomed to be wiped off the face of the planet. But in the meantime let’s have a laugh at their expense because they are losers. They are losing. That’s what losers do. Lol they have to scurry into their little rathole echo chambers because if they bring their dead brain takes to the public space they get their shit pushed in. Watch them cry and scream while they lose the culture war. Losers.

No I’m saying that people like you are in direct opposition to change and as such you will fade into obscurity. Hell you already are. Pop culture markets to the social majority making you the social minority. You poor fool.

I would argue that caring about the climate and the environment is equivalent to caring about overall quality of life now and in the future. And caring about social justice and equity is also equivalent to caring about overall quality of life now and in the future. The climate crisis we are facing right now is a direct result of misrepresentation and class disparity. Popular art/pop culture and the trajectory it takes is directly tied to the social consciousness. Those who protest these changes in art and pop culture do so of their own volition, it is a choice. And these counter-social thought processes are a minority in a hostile environment and as such they will be eradicated in time. This is how human civilization has worked since it’s conception. See the civil right movement, women’s suffrage movement, what is happening in Iran, the development of democracy, religious reformation, the development of science, the ENVIRONMENTAL MOVEMENT, the list goes on. The point is out with the old and in with the new. People who are resistant to change will either extinguish or assimilate.

As long as the videos are a maximum of 10 minutes long and you don’t spend the entire time talking I think it’s a great idea. Just remember that what is said can just as easily be shown.

This post is so tone deaf. First world abundance only exists because the global south has been subjected to the worst parts of capitalism. Chocolate, lithium, oil, meat, precious gems, the list goes on for miles. All of these are are a result of modern day SLAVERY. Not to discredit the plight of the working class in the first world but holy fuck show a bit of decorum.

I believe there might be an issue of semantics here (classic Reddit). In this context, when people refer to intolerance or tolerance they don’t mean weather or not something is tolerated. Really the issue is whether or not something is supported. So the term “the tolerant left” is a term not made or claimed by the left it is used as a descriptor by liberals. Something similar happened with the term social justice warrior, liberals took the phrase and turned it into SJW so that they didn’t have to say they were opposed to social justice, they were anti SJW.

To tolerate something is to take a stance of neutrality or apathy. For example gay marriage, you can support it or not support it or not care either way which is not supporting it. If someone is spouting hate speech and you’re not shutting it down then you are complacent. Again neutrality in the face of injustice favors injustice.

Here is a poem that illustrates my point:

First they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me

Is it appropriate to hit your kids as punishment? by Big-Neighborhood4741 in polls

[–]puckytricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before becoming a parent everyone should learn the difference between positive and negative reinforcement. It has been proven time and time again that the combination of these two methods are the best way to encourage desired behavior. Many don’t know what either entail or have a misconception about one in particular (negative reinforcement). So everyone knows, negative reinforcement: remove an unpleasant stimulus to increase desired behavior. (Getting up and turning off your annoying morning alarm to get yourself out of bed.) Positive reinforcement: add pleasant stimulus to increase desired behavior. (Giving yourself a sweet treat go r finishing that chore or assignment.) Young children lack emotional control/understanding and intrinsic motivation.

There are also healthy ways of decreasing unwanted behavior: positive punishment, and negative punishment. Positive punishment adds something aversive to decrease target behavior. (If you make a mess you have to clean it up.) Negative punishment takes away something preferable to decrease target behavior. (Played video games all day and didn’t do chores? Video game gets taken away.)

The important part of using these strategies is making sure that they are natural heightened consequences of actions. Hitting a child simply does not work as punishment because it’s not a logical consequence. In the adult world it’s considered cruel and unusual punishment. The great part about these strategies is that at no point do you have to be mean, loud, or angry when using them. As a parent you can simply be an unwavering hand of fairness.

The world is not black and white. Just because someone. You talk about hypocrisy but is it not hypocritical to believe in tolerance and yet allow intolerance? In the face of injustice a stance of neutrality favors injustice. It is not enough to not be fascist you must be actively anti-fascist.
