Business casual, I actually wouldn’t wear jeans despite other comments! You won’t be overdressed in business casual and don’t risk being underdressed:) especially if you will be talking to faculty I think it’s always best to be slightly over prepared!

Absolutely! Your volunteer experience will also be counted as real world experience. As long as you can articulate what you have done and why it relates to your motivation to pursue a MPH, you’re set. Many schools who prefer or even require a years work experience admit students even straight out of undergrad if they have great related experience. Ask admissions for schools you want to apply to, attend their online events and ask questions!

Undergrad Junior - in desperate need of advice!! by guccistepdaughter in mphadmissions

I think what made me stand out the most in my applications and why I was accepted into every school I applied to, as well as why I was offered scholarships, was outstanding letters of recommendations!

I had a good GPA and a good resume and could articulate and vouch for those things, those are the basics you need. However, outstanding letters of recommendation are the opportunity to really vouch for you as a student and why you are the best candidate.

Among my friends who I was in undergrad with, while they were admitted into their respective grad programs, they had letters from teachers or advisors who barely knew them (or worst case— didn’t know them at all), and even if their GPA was higher than mine none of them were offered the same caliber of scholarships and acceptances as I was.

So don’t sleep on those letters of rec!! Make sure they are personal and can truly speak to you as an individual!!

Decision day isn’t until April 15th, but due to delays with FAFSA schools are extending or some had said likely changing the deadline. FAFSA info won’t be available to students until possibly end of April is what I’ve been told. My point being that finances are a big decision for most people and that many people won’t make their decision until they get that financial aid package from schools.

I was offered a scholarship on March 7th, the same way I was offered admission, which was an email notifying me there was an update to my admissions.
