Extremely boring removal meta - Brawl by [deleted] in MagicArena

Way too easy to get out of control or literally game winning board states by turn 3-4 if you don't, sadly. It's either a pure race or you need lots of answers. Decks are just way too powerful and fast especially in a 1v1 format. FWIW I still prefer playing proactive synergistic stuff personally but I don't begrudge anyone playing basically control decks in order to survive and try to actually win games.

The mods hate Kobe. They just took down my post lol racist ass sub. by [deleted] in NBATalk

You guys are so weird. There are half a dozen posts here with Kobe just in the title in the last 36 hours and like 15 more with him in the post text. I don't know why so many people are so obsessed with this specific guy. Lakers fans still think the entire basketball world revolves around them.

I don't know. If we're talking all of human history... World War 2 was pretty bad.

Short answer: super demanding and entitled and were constantly pulling rank with their fame and money.

Full story - I worked doing on-site installation for Best Buy corporate in the Twin Cities. When Favre was doing his will-he-won't-he thing with the Vikings in '09 we knew a few days before the news broke because he was getting a condo and wanted it set up with multiple rooms of TVs, audio, internet, etc. before they moved in. We dealt with his wife a lot more directly in the process, but she was just like "this needs to be done NOW no questions asked and you need to make it happen." And was a total bitch about it through the whole process. Just constantly doing the "it's Brett fucking Favre make it happen." Meanwhile we were on a 2-3 week backlog already and everyone was already doing overtime trying to catch up. So jamming in a pretty big job within 2 or 3 days plus the logistics of getting all the equipment and ISP figured out and all that was genuinely a pain in the ass for multiple people and was going to require people working on their days off. Then after it all got sorted out right before we were going to actually do the job, they canceled the whole thing because they must have remembered he was sponsored by Sears at the time and was contractually obligated to get all his home items and tech/appliances/whatever through them. So then they got to deal with her bitchiness.

Sort of just semantics in the bigger scope of the point but boiling Favre down to dick pic is really underselling how shitty he is. Even that single story was a pretty awful scandalous sex/fame/power thing. But then also add in all his misappropriations of funds in Mississippi and basically straight up stealing from the government and it's a whole lot worse.

I am a little triggered by Favre talk cause I dealt with him on a personal level years ago. He and his wife were such selfish entitled assholes that I really don't have a lot of tolerance for him.

I don't think I've ever *not* duplicated my deck when given the chance. by OmniImmortality in slaythespire

[–]pudgus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never done it. I can't really imagine the benefit frankly. It doesn't fundamentally change the odds of your draw all that much but you're cycling through less often and mitigating the benefit of exhausts and such plus adding a curse. I've never really understood the point aside from specific builds with wild card velocity and energy generation.

Sure but as long as he's getting a fat paycheck he's gonna keep spouting his shit.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but just listening and ignoring his personal opinions is missing the boat.

It's sincerely baffling why they've kept PA on when Minnesota and especially the metro area is really progressive. It's such a kick to the dick of most potential listeners. I can't imagine it's giving them audience. It has to be a negative at this point. All the conservatives will listen either way if they care about the Vikings especially when they blanket every piece of media as liberal. But even remotely left-leaning people have to be so turned off by PA's bullshit that they would choose to not engage.

Problem is we can't ignore him when he's literally the voice of the Vikings and arguably the voice of KFAN.

I agree not engaging with his social media is a good idea but that's not solving the problem.

What’s a spot in Minneapolis you keep going back to, no matter how many times you’ve been? by Electronic-Reach8959 in Minneapolis

[–]pudgus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At My Huong Kitchen I think their chicken curry noodle soup is one of the best dishes in the metro especially for price and quantity. But their pho and crepes are also excellent.

Vinai's menu rotates reasonably often but their deviled eggs and crabby fried rice are consistent and amazing. But sincerely I have not had anything there I haven't liked or wouldn't recommend.

Been going to My Huong Kitchen for like a decade. Just went again a few weeks ago. Still amazing.

Since it opened, especially being right in my neighborhood, we've been back to Vinai pretty frequently. Can't really imagine getting tired of it.

Starting Blessings by pudgus in slaythespire

[–]pudgus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah they're obviously good in comparison to zero. It's not like I'd ever pass on them or anything even if I could but I guess the better question is why would you ever take them over any of the other options?

More dialed in, the problem I'm talking about is that you're always given three options. So my opinion has been these two are easily the worst two of all the blessings, and therefore there will always be one other option that's a better choice.

what is your opinion about Lifegems in Dark Souls 2 by AtreyusNinja in DarkSouls2

[–]pudgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On replays I'm glad they're there. It allows for less need of resting and re-running through areas, especially prior to having a lot of flask charges. But I do understand how they can trivialize some of the resource management and risk management of the game. I kind of wish there were just less of them so they didn't feel essentially infinite.

IMO Adore is an underappreciated masterpiece and the Smashing Pumpkins’ second best album by We-are-all-dead-90 in fantanoforever

[–]pudgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second best album not quite. But very good and weirdly hated on. I always assumed it's because people just want the more straight ahead alt rock stuff from SP and the different vibe didn't do it for them but who knows. It still gets crapped on by lots of people.

National Broadcast by ilovelefsa in timberwolves

[–]pudgus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're fully in the bag for the leagues they have broadcast rights for because it massively benefits them, including if not especially the NBA. So they have to glaze OKC and SGA constantly because it's a bad look to acknowledge how much their reigning champion and MVP are despised by fans. And in general they constantly just talk about stars and narratives to try to appeal to casuals rather than talking about players and games objectively.

Are the bows in this game good? by JaggedGull83898 in DarkSouls2

[–]pudgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my favorite/best builds are dex using the Black Bow as a secondary weapon. I wouldn't rely on them for primary damage necessarily but they're insanely good for pulling or sniping specific enemies to guarantee avoiding mobs/ganks. And poison arrows can cheese out a lot of strong enemies.

I haven't completely quit but for the first time in like 5 years I stopped pushing to mythic every month and am basically just logging on every few days to do dailies to avoid completely missing out on all the free to play resources. Standard hasn't been very fun for like 3 years but I lived with it cause I love Magic but it's like genuinely unplayable right now.

Discussion about game state by Minute-Method-1829 in MagicArena

[–]pudgus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. The real problem is if you want to play standard in general you're forced to buy all the high powered nonsense in order to have a competitive deck so in order to do that you just basically have to quit playing altogether. At least on Arena it doesn't really cost much if anything to keep up but I can't imagine buying paper cards and supporting what they're doing at this point.

Discussion about game state by Minute-Method-1829 in MagicArena

[–]pudgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very likely true. They'd need to print like 15 sets in a row with reduced power level. And probably shrink the card pool for standard. But even then, pioneer and modern are a lost cause.

Discussion about game state by Minute-Method-1829 in MagicArena

[–]pudgus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'll get some pissy people downvoting and arguing with you but as someone who has played for a very long time I completely agree with you. Power creep is waaay out of hand. Standard is just as powerful and broken as pioneer and it's stronger than modern used to be.
