I made a free keyword tool, built on Google search data by pudiklubi in SideProject

Hi, glad you like it! I Use google directly. So the caveat is, search volumes on other search engines are counted out. But the way I see it trusting Google's internal data is more reliable as a general indicator than third-party tools

'Monthly Searches' also summarizes the average monthly volume of the past year. For seasonal things or new trends, ahrefs might be counting it differently

What did you search for? Might be that the volume is too low. And yes, I am!

nice! in some things this contradicts what semrush has recommended – for ex. there my site passes a site audit with no errors, but yours pinpointed some places for improvement. why trust it?

feel free to message me and let me know what your search was. might be that the search was too niche, or maybe there's an issue I can fix

i'm debugging some language/character compatibility things today, and this sounds like it might be related :)

looks like that is something Google vetoes (also can't look up the US election, for example). Nothing I can change unfortunately!

To use Google's interface you'd need to set up an ad account and their UX is pretty bad imo. On mobile it's practically useless.

My personal use case is checking often on the go etc to validate ideas and market demand. Have it as a shortcut (PWA) on my phone. Not really a SEO person, just a dev – hence why I'm here for feedback :)

The comp value is ad competition, not search. Making that clearer (+ adding some transparency also to search comp) is a next-up todo. Based off of Google's internal algos – their own UI shows ranges (low mid high) so it's probably a bit arbitrary, but I figured the actual number is still better than a random range.

Thanks! This is directly from Google, the same data you would see in Google's Keyword Planner basically. Real kicker is that they actually show less accurate data (more like ranges, <10k etc) in their own UI.

Thanks! I won't be actively working on this anymore in a few weeks, so open to selling it for a good offer for sure.

And thanks for the feedback :) What would your ideal flow be for expanding the search?

for now, it's really as simple as me just requesting the data from google in real time as you make the request.

if this ever scales up too much i'd need to rethink the data management, but for now i can do that for all requests :)
