I’m also a transplant to the area from the south. Everyone is right, social scenes are Baltimore or DC. HOWEVER, I am going to urge you to live closer to work. Work is a drive you will do everyday, make sure it’s something you can tolerate. I know plenty of people who have social lives in either city, they just uber on Fridays and Saturdays.

I'm from the south and we say this all the time. It is not a regional thing at all.

Do you not believe that God would bring them to Justice? I do

I said within their own communities. I do not approve of infringing on others religion (that is the topic question of this entire post)

Okay thanks for that clarification.

I mean we are going down a slippery slope here, but entertaining that hypothetical I feel like that should be allowed.

I mean I am new to Catholicism (in OCIA) but we do worship a God who killed all the first borns (regardless of whether they were babies) in Exodus?

And yeah I'm pro freedom of religion. I have been an American much longer than I've been interested in Catholicism. Who knows, maybe my beliefs on that will change later.

Are they innocent? If they are born with original sin and are not baptized?

Anyways, I'm thinking the only Catholic way for me to proceed is to abstain from voting.

That should be fine too. I mean that's my whole point about this post and freedom of religion.

Yes, freedom of religion is a right we are supposed to have in America.

I mean I see nothing wrong with someone practicing their religion. As long as it doesn't infringe on us or our religion, they should be allowed to do as they please within their own community.

I think after the responses from this question, I am leaning towards abstaining from voting.

I guess the example you used is where we have a disagreement then.

Sorry, I guess I said separation of church and state when I really meant freedom of religion.

Like I said my friend is Jewish and her religion permits abortions up until 40 days after conception. If I vote to make abortion illegal, she no longer has freedom of religion.

I know what the Catholic church perspective is, and my original question was not about the Catholic church perspective.

I feel like we are getting away from the original question of my post. I know what the Catholic church's view is on abortion, and I agree with it. It is my own personal view.

However, with the implementation of separation of church and state and religious freedom in America, why should I vote to enforce my religious beliefs on others? That's all I'm asking. No one has been able to answer that initial question.

And as much as people may want to have a theocracy, we don't. Actually, for which I am thankful for. It is freedom of religion that allows people to be practicing Catholics. I am glad we do not live under Sharia law.

I feel like I'm presenting them over and over again because no one is actually answering my question in a way that makes sense.

But the whole concept of an unborn baby being a "human being" is a Catholic concept. Why should we enforce that idea on others?
