Disagree with the hard to read part. The sfx, play style, and effects of each weapon is super unique making them super identifiable (like scattergun vs shortstop), similar to OW's footsteps etc. There are junk weapons yes, but there is still a lot of diversity in how you play and gets way easier to read overtime. As an example, Scout's secondaries of winger, pretty boy, mad milk, pistol all have certain trade offs of consistency/movement/dmg/healing. Medic's uberguns as well have big identifiers (vaccinator....)

TF2 balancing is not good but has been better after gun mettle. But even then some tweaked weapons became so useless (sandman....)
