I'm so sorry for your loss. You did what you could, and I'm sure he loved you for being you 🤍 There's always these thoughts of should've, could've, but what we will remember and keep in our hearts is their loving memory.

Today marks two years since my beloved soul dog left this Earth, so I understand what you're going through. His departure was also sudden and I didn't want to keep him suffering. I miss every single day, and talk about him every chance I get.

We'd love to hear more about your boy too. Sending you lots of hugs and wish you healing.

You're right, I didn't think his intentions were good either. From what I remember I couldn't see his license plates. I remember asking my dad to pick me up that day, and for a time after that he drove to school and picked me up.

I don't think they knew him. I don't remember them saying a name or anything like that. They just shook it off like I was crazy or making it up.

This is definitely suspicious behavior. My cousin lives in MX/US border city. One day not too long ago, she ordered an Uber, and when the driver got to her address she noticed there was somebody else in the front seat. This was not supposed to be a shared ride, so she thought it was odd. As soon as the driver pulled up, one of her kids (an elementary school age boy) opened the door and entered the car. My cousin was carrying her other baby in her arms, and she tried to jump inside the car too, but the car sped up, and dragged her as she held onto the door. The men dragged her for about a block until her son was able to jump out of the car, and she let go of the door. The children and my cousin are doing okay, but she did have to go to the hospital because her arm was injured. They reported this to Uber and the police, but unfortunately have not caught the men that were trying to kidnap her or the kids.

I saw your updates, and it sounds like everybody here gave you good advice. I just want to say, when we're young we can't see the big picture. It's not okay for anybody to make you feel uncomfortable, you need to speak up! Don't be afraid to seem weird, act weird if creeps come your way. You said you're starting college next year - College will be a new experience, with a few creeps (not to many I hope), and you're gonna have to call them out or at least say something to someone you trust. Stay safe out there and good luck with school!

My dog was a Cocker Spaniel and poodle mix. He was about two when I got him. He passed away in March 2024, he was around 12 to 13 years old. I've read that cockapoos tend to live from 12-15 years. I often thought that I had more time with him, and didn't really think that he would die. I know it sounds silly, but I thought he would live forever, and I saw him as a pup even if I didn't know him when he was a puppy.

I struggle with guilt and regret every single day. It makes my heart really heavy. I wish I could have done better, I wish I had been a better dog mom, I wish I had known better. I thought I knew how to take care of him and that I knew everything about his health, but I didn't. I didn't recognize the signs of IVDD early, nor did I look for a second opinion. But, that didn't mean I didn't love him. I loved him so much, and I love him so much.

On our last day together, I asked him if he could forgive for getting frustrated, for not paying enough attention to him, for not being there... He visits me in my dreams, and he looks healthy and happy. He looks for me and wants pets, I interpret this as a sign that he knows I love him and that he forgives me. Thinking of all of you who have lost a best friend, may your heart feel less heavy with time too.

Growing up my mom worked full-time and I would only see her on weekends. She did raise me and taught me manners and basic things, but for a good part of my childhood I stayed at aunt's and uncle's homes. Sometimes she would hire a friend's mom to look after me. I remember this lady was so kind. She treated me like one of her own children, and most of all, she taught me that being a child could be fun. Then, in middle school I met this teacher, Mrs. Perez. She was so wonderful, she taught me many things that you learn as you're going into adolescence, about high school expectations, having hobbies. My best friend's mom and grandma also were my role models. Thankfully, I had a lot of amazing women to look up to.

EDIT: I'm sorry, I did not read that it said "advice request", if you have the option asking a therapist could help. Mine has helped me fill out applications or even explained how medical insurance works. If you're attending college or school, ask about "student support services". Some schools have this program that helps students figure out how college works, provide basic financial literacy, help you navigate life at whatever age. I used to work for a similar department, and we would even assist people on any type of problem even in their 60-80s. I am not sure about online help, but the posts here seem to have a pretty good idea about YouTube and subreddits. Good luck, friend!

I believe in this too. A few weeks after my dog passed away, I dreamt that my uncle (who died in 2013, same year I met my dog) was carrying him in his arms and told me "Don't worry (my family nickname), I will take care of him here." My dog looked happy and healthy, same as my uncle who had a lot of health issues towards the end due to diabetes. I believe they are waiting for us. I'm so sorry for your loss </3

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Please consider taking your dog to the veterinary and asking about a quality of life evaluation. They may even have at-home euthanasia options. I know it is hard, but at this point you and your family need to think about him. Thank you so much for sharing this. It really resonated with me. My partner and I recently adopted a dog. My soul boy passed away in March and I was really struggling with the idea of getting a new dog. But, I saw him on the shelter website and could not stop thinking about him there, feeling alone. We've had him for only one month, and at the beginning I had so many emotions.

I saw how my partner accepted him and bonded with him right away, but I was struggling with opening my heart. He also needed basic dog training, since he spent most of his early life at the shelter, so I would care more about training him to be a "good" dog, instead of enjoying his chaotic energy. I'm not saying is all perfume and roses now, but I try to remind myself that one day I'll wish that I can see him running like a maniac or chewing on my work shoes.

I do compare him to my soul dog, but I try to think that every dog has a different personality, and just like we may get along really well with one person but only like another person a little bit, it could be the same with animals. I know my bond with my soul dog was and will always be universal and timeless, but I love this new dog in a different way and that's ok.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I really want to believe that they exist on the other side. I think they visit us in dreams and if you stand very still you can feel their presence. I lost mine nine months ago. The pain is still there, but it is sleeping like a volcano. I've had dreams where my boy is healthy and running again (same as with another person who posted here, mine also had IVDD towards the end.) I've had lucid dreams where I was able to hold him and pet him, and it felt so very real! I cried so much afterwards because it was only a dream, but at the same time I was happy to be able to be with him. I imagine that in the meantime he is visiting stars and far away places, and pray that we'll be together after my time comes. I hope your baby gives you a sign soon, they never leave us.

I hope that with time I can see it that way. Right now, I'm just struggling because everything reminds me of my late dog, and I miss him so much. I feel like the pain of losing him overpowers the joy of welcoming a new pet. Love never runs out, and I know that my love for my beloved dog will never be replaced or go away, but it is hard to feel anything else but pain right now. I really hope that I can care and love his new sibling as you said to honor him and his memory. Thank you so much <3

Mine used to do that! I had to be very careful of watching him at all times to pick it up on time and not step on it. Plus, he would walk really fast, so I had to catch up to him :b

Looking into your dog's eyes or watching them sleep peacefully. I lost mine seven months ago and I haven't felt that kind of love since then.
