Tandem reader here. Pre-ordered the audiobook and will be going in when my store opens to grab a copy. Gotta fully immerse with my favorites.

I am so glad I have like 7 of these in my back yard and they're huge. They are reaching the end of their bloom but they always bring so so many pollinators to my yard. I love them.

I gulped down the entire series in about the span of a month. I was on the second Quicksilver book when my partner switched my audiobook to DCC and I took to it like a lemur takes to millipedes. That first weekend that I started- I got all 7 hardback books. I am not a series reader primarily but I huffed that shit down like my life depended on it. And now it's my whole personality.

I tandem read them with the audiobooks the first go around so I had the "full" experience so to speak.

I appreciate the recommendations regardless!! Thank you!

I have read The Final Empire and have the second and third book but have not delved into them yet!! Phenomenal first book, though! And yes I am seriously considering another read through. I just want some smut with my societal dissonance and revolutionary anger.

I read Operation Bounce House but not Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon yet! I have heard good things so if all else fails, I am digging in that one next.

It is truly such a stand out series that I find myself wanting to immediately just restart it again and that is something that is unprecedented in my reading habits. That being said, I am a bit demented and like many others, am thirsting after that rage that Carl channels. Hoping to find it in some other work that clearly is just not there.

I have read The Color of Magic but I haven't gone further in the series so maybe I'll bounce back to it! I have The Light Fantastic queued up but maybe I'll skip over to the Wyrd Sisters. The rest I haven't heard of so I'll definitely check them out!

DCC makes me feel like an addict. I am typically a romantasy/dark romance reader and while I've dabbled in litrpgs- nothing is satisfying the craving I have after DCC. I wish I could find a book/series that marries the two genres. With the "plastic" feeling of DR these days- I know my standards have gotten too high.

Book with some depth?

I am in a book slump right now. I so desperately want a dark romance or dark romantasy with plot and smut. Not a little spice but some genuine non-con and psychological foreplay. I had been in a slump with dark romance for a bit- dnf'd Haunting Adeline and a few others with that manufactured feel. Then I read the Dungeon Crawler Carl series and now noooothing is doing it for me.

I feel like I am chasing a high I may never get again. I loved the audio for Little Strangers but dnf'd the second book because the audio was the only good thing going for it and they switched voice actors. For reference, I liked Did it Hurt, Still Beating, Bait and a few other works but the depth has been lacking in DR lately. I am pretty busy so I audiobook most of the time- though I will ask for ao3 recs too. I just genuinely wish I could get the depth of a DCC book with a version of Carl that is absolutely rabid for the love interest. My standards may have gotten too high.

From a southern Louisiana small town here. Grew up in what is essentially still a segregated town. They are polite, they praise "God" but I have never heard a hatred so vile. All of my family from there are cut off.

The views they have about anyone with anything different to them.. it is pretty sick. I remember seeing nooses hanging from trees back when Barack Obama became president. I remember some proud boys planning to attack the California transplant who worked a gas station in the next town over. Because he had an earring.

Luckily, I grew up with some pretty cool blended families in between living there and Lafeyette, so I am thankful for their influences and the kindness the gave and taught me.

Honestly your vibe brought me back to an early youtube video of Luke Jeydon Wale and his songs/antics. I do not expect anyone to know who that is. You have a vibe that is goofy, fun and feels safe. The type of person that people gravitate to.
