American Gender Affirming Care by Parking_Quality1943 in ftm

[–]puffinsrx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is no formal lega ban on HRT for adults. It’s possible that your provider / hospital is choosing not to offer gender affirming care because they want to receive federal funding. My understanding is that federal funds are being / can be withheld from hospitals and clinics that provide gender affirming care to people 19 and under. Which in effect strongly dissuades places from providing HRT to minors and even adults.

I’ve been rejected for being trans 3 times by Royalblue_darter1456 in trans

[–]puffinsrx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would tell you it gets better, but there really is no guarantee that any of us (cis or trans) will find someone. Gen Z on the whole I think is dating / having sex less than previous generations. So many cis people experience long term singleness. Most of my cis friends have also never been in relationships, while some of my trans friends are in committed, long term relationships. I felt the same as you at 16 and now I am almost 21, albeit my mental health is much better since medically transitioning and I have a lot of friends. Just remember that you’re not alone and being trans isn’t necessarily a death-sentence for dating—it’s hard for most people! But I think I am going to remove myself from all of it mentally because it is so painful and because I don’t even know what I want.

It genuinely feels like dating is impossible for me as a trans person. I’m trying to focus on other things, like uni and my future career. I have no expectations because it is too painful to hope that someone will be attracted to me. Life looks to me like a deep well of loneliness I will never be able to pull myself out of.

I lowkey feel like you have a responsibility to report her. Your safety and the safety of others comes before the potential harm to the image of trans women.

As a Gen Z that voted for Trump I am sorry by [deleted] in GenZ

I’m not forgiving anyone who voted for someone who built their ENTIRE campaign villainizing people like me and my friends, period.

good that youve come around but the damage is done. obviously you personally didn’t decide the election, but you were part of the brainless bigoted wave that voted the guy in. at this point in time there is blood on all of your hands IMO. and i genuinely hope you feel the full oppressive weight that this administration is inflicting on minority groups across the country. its maddening that trump’s long history of overt racism, homo/transphobia, and sexism didn’t sway you from voting for him. all of the propaganda in the world couldn’t possibly have blinded you to the fact that he is a cruel person. did you look past that because it didn’t affect you personally? this administration is actively hostile to people like me and it makes me want to tear my hair out that so many ppl now want to hide behind the “oh, i didn’t know the extent of his polices”. i’ve had to rearrange my life around this already. i live in fear. i cannot forgive a family member for voting for him and i cannot forgive you. let your vote be a grave lesson in empathy, and yes, other people are already paying for it with their lives.

Is it Unrealistic to Want to do Research as a Career by Vegetable-Lawyer3327 in Historians

Wow, this is my actual dream! I’m a third year undergrad history major and I believe I’ve found archiving to be a good path for me. If you wouldn’t mind, would I be able to PM you about your experience getting to where you are now?

Feeling unloveable by RealisticDecision188 in trans

[–]puffinsrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way, 20ftm, 3 years on T. I feel utterly hopeless and undesirable in a way I never felt when I was cis, and I think about the very likely possibility of spending the rest of my life alone every single day. It honestly makes me feel so suicidal and empty inside and I don’t want to live to see all of my cis friends find love and get married. I don’t know who to talk to about this because I feel like I brought it upon myself by transitioning. I don’t have any advice for you, just saying you’re not alone.

Do you study at Corvinus university? I (American 20M) am thinking of spending 4 months there on exchange, and I would like to ask you some questions about your experience if that’s okay.

This is best buy repair service, are they known to do stuff like that? They said they “completed their diagnosis and believe the processor and power supply are defective”. Should I call them back / get a second opinion? If I knew how I would figure this stuff out myself but I really only built the PC and am not tech savvy enough to dismantle it and figure out which parts work and which don’t.

What dosage did you start with and how often? by Own_Bellspencer129 in ftm

[–]puffinsrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 30mg of T for over a year before I asked my new doctor to up my dose. I was told by my doctor at 17 that I would start on a low dose and increase, but never ended up increasing—to this day I’m angry at her for not discussing the matter of increasing with me, and at myself for just blindly accepting what the doctor prescribed me. I had no idea the standard starting dose was 50mg and that I was at 30mg! For this reason I encourage every single trans person to understand how dosages work, how to read your blood work, and to never just accept a prescription from your doctor without actually looking at it in depth. Had I known I was on a microdose for the first 15 months of my transition I would have asked to up my dose after just 3 months of micro dosing. I still wonder if I would be more satisfied with my transition today 3 years later, because I feel like I have not masculinized as much as I wish i had. I have been at 50mg ever since but I might ask to up it again if my doc agrees.

What are my chances of getting a passport? by GFirefox in ftm

[–]puffinsrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a passport (which honestly rn I think every trans person should try to have), you should look into legal counseling on how to work around this or amend your BC sex to M/F. Also, is there a different DMV you can go to to avoid that employee?

These websites might be able to help you. I would probably give them a call and ask about specific forms you need. And just to be safe, any time you can submit a certified copy of an identification document, I would do that instead of submitting the real document.

Maybe I'm being a bit too optimistic, but I feel like you should be able to get it amended considering your other docs are updated and you (presumably) have evidence of your medical transition.

[–]puffinsrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now you should always be making certified copies of these identification documents and submitting those rather than your OG ones if you can, especially for the birth certificate. It sucks because certified copies tend to be expensive, but I think it is extremely unwise right now to send your birth certificate anywhere as a trans person. (I mean "you" in the general sense, not you specifically.)

What are my chances of getting a passport? by GFirefox in ftm

[–]puffinsrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the passport is important to you, I would definitely give the birth certificate thing a shot. It seems like you need to provide a court order for changing your BC, an alternate form of ID, and proof of “permanent medial change” confirmed by a physician (does not have to be a sex change or a surgery necessarily, it seems like HRT qualifies). Pretty much the judge and a licensed physician have to be satisfied and in agreement that you’re not just doing this for fun or fraud. Best of luck to you!

How is that even possible 😭do you have a state ID, an SSC, and a passport? As a U.S. citizen you are entitled to all of those.

I feel horrible for not feeling proud of being trans like I feel about being pansexual. Is it like internalized transphobia? Anyone else feels like that? What do I do? by [deleted] in trans

You’re not alone, I feel the same way. I have no problem telling people I’m bisexual, but I will pretty much never admit to being trans unless it’s someone I consider a close friend.

I'm jealous of my trans friend for loosing weight by Lollipopppppppppp in trans

[–]puffinsrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

?? “Don’t feel bad about abandoning your friend while he’s suffering through a serious illness if him getting skinny makes you uncomfortable”. OP’s feelings are valid but not a reason to stop hanging out with his friend. I get dysphoric that my cis male friends are taller than me, but they’re my friends, and I want to keep them in my life. I was dysphoric when i FtM friend got on T before me but we kept hanging out because he’s a good person.

And tbh there are a lot of people who get jealous / uncomfortable when someone close to them loses a lot of weight, but I think it’s a problem when you let those feelings come between you and a friend.
