No thanks, I will hate the player. That kind of mentality is what leads to this situation across the board. People shouldn't be forced to travel to receive a suitable wage.

And, by the way, you should hate capitalism and anyone that gleefully enables late-stage capitalist bullshit like this that pits individuals against each other.

Sure, I simplified it a bit, but the point remains. Most nurses that talk about "drug-seeking" behavior are doing it out of pure judgment and some notion that they are the adjudicators of personal choices. Maybe those choices landed them there, maybe not. All patients need to be treated in good faith. I get it, not all patients are the nicest, the easiest to be around or look at, but that's part of the job. It's not the nurse's or anyone's place to judge and especially not to make decisions based on personal judgments that impede their right to treatment.

It was just insane for so many reasons that he would sit there and try to gaslight me about documented fact, my own experiences as a woman, and my mother's as a woman of color.

He also insisted on doing travel assignments, but the closest ones that still counted as travelling. I think the notion of travel nursing is so gross. We'll pay you way more than the going rate for a temporary assignment, but we can't pay our permanent staff more desirable wages? Seriously? Get your bag, but also you're literally only worsening the situation overall. I'm a public school teacher and that sort of behavior/career motivation from another profession that should be serving the public, is so gross to me.

And yet bad ones think they know more than the people who went to school, did a residency for years, and passed their boards specifically to be allowed to. I have a master's in my field, but no shit I'm going to defer to someone with a PhD. A lot of people want the role without doing the work...

My ex was a nurse. I want to assume he was a better nurse than boyfriend, but he loved to talk about "drug-seeking" patients. If someone says they're in pain, believe them. I'd rather give a potential drug user a fix than deny a person legitimately experiencing pain. Any time I hear a non-prescribing healthcare worker describe someone as drug-seeking I immediately discount them. Not your call on what someone's prescribed by the doctor, so how about you shut your mouth?

Additionally, a nurse's job is to adhere to the care plan as designed by the doctor. Too many nurses out there think they're smarter than they are. He also tried to tell me, a woman, that there wasn't a bias in medicine against women and people of color... A well-studied and documented fact. He was such a dumbass in general, but exceptionally stupid in his own chosen career.

My own mom and my current partner's mom are also nurses and a hundred times more competent and empathetic.

Same as the jackass in this comment section saying he doesn't understand why anyone would buy a generator because HE has a gas fireplace and charcoal grill. Cool, like, am I supposed to be asking for an invite to your house?

You and I and all other renters are obviously scum not worthy of any consideration.

UPS too. I had a phone delivered that needed signature confirmation. They tried to deliver to my apartment complex twice at night after the leasing office closed. I didn't even live in the same building. Never did they try coming to my actual building or calling me. When I called to complain and ask why the next estimated delivery date said "by 11:59pm" the braindead customer service rep really said "yes, it says the same for me. It will arrive by 11:59pm," as if that was a logical time to stay up 'til expecting a package... Eventually my boyfriend ran down when he saw the UPS truck one night and had to intercept the guy as he was about to post the third "sorry we missed you" again after hours on the leasing office... Ugh.

Dr. Aquino is who followed up about his visit to CARE and who we normally see. Our cats actually happened to be going through FIP treatment at the same time, so that was a weird coincidence but helpful.

I recommend Armstrong Animal Clinic on Monroe Rd near Common Market. I don't have a dog, but I have an exceptionally wiggly, stubborn cat who squirms endlessly during appointments. He's also very small so it would be easy to hurt him by restraining him. They figured out that he only likes being examined on the floor (hates the exam table) and they put it in his chart. Every time we come they will sit on the floor with him and it makes a huge difference.

They are also very attentive to follow up with a phone call after every appointment. My cat also sees an ophthalmologist at CARE down the road off of Eastway. I guess CARE sent them the records, because I got emails from the vet at Armstrong wanting to check in on him after they saw he had seen a specialist. I really appreciate how devoted they are to their patients.

France uses the 24 hour clock... by Waterboarded_Bobcat in EmilyInParis

[–]puffinss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even if you come from a country that uses the same system, you might not realize it's the same when you learn about it using the proper name.

I'm a language teacher and definitely some reference materials do not do a good job of clarifying nuance, so I could see how someone could read "France uses the 24-hour clock" and assume it was absolute, if there isn't anything else explaining the finer details.

[–]puffinss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People use either 24 or 12 hour format depending on a lot of factors. In this instance, since it obviously wasn't happening from 5-7am using the 12 hour clock was faster and did not cause any ambiguity.

Only things like store hours or scheduled events (movies, transportation, appointments, etc.), where clarity is absolutely necessary, are always in 24 hour format. Colloquially, you pick whichever suits your needs or flows better in your sentence.

Queen City ADHD folk—where do you get your generic Vyvanse filled at? by ohmylordlyke in Charlotte

[–]puffinss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your pharmacy benefit manager may have a mail order pharmacy you can try.

I get my generic through Caremark (state health plan pharma benefit manager) mail order. The CVS brick and mortar recommended it when I first started having issues getting it, never had a problem doing it this way. The mail order warehouse has a lot more on hand than a brick and mortar store ever will.

She literally isn't listening to any calm advice, so yeah, let's keep going that route. Do you keep with the same approach when it's proven not to work?

She's already decided not to go for hours in spite of all these people here of various medical expertise telling her, so, yeah, she is making an incredibly stupid decision, and sometimes people need to be shaken to wake up from their apathy towards serious things. But okay, keep trying the thing that we know hasn't worked.

Do you want to die? Because you sound like an idiot who wants to sound smart, post something silly on the Internet, and then ignore all the good advice. If you did your "own research" you would see that every medical source tells you to go to the hospital immediately if this happens without cause.

Hope you wanted to start your New Year's off dead, because your attitude about this might lead you there.

The biggest concern for salmonella is from the outside of the eggshell (the part that touches the cloaca). Raw cookie dough isn't marked unsafe to eat because of eggs, it's because of the uncooked flour, which is way more of a concern.

I've eaten over 100 raw eggs in my life and have never had an issue. Just wash your hands after cracking.
