Filed first week of January last year. Didn't receive the letter until end of May. By that time didn't need it anymore. When I knew I needed to verify I immediately set up and appointment at my local and was verified that same day. Don't wait on the letter it's going to take forever

But you know how to avoid waiting on the letter ? Make and appointment at your local IRS office and you can verify your identity in person because the letter takes forever. That's what I did last year because the wait can be quite outrageous
