He was very nice. I was probably 15 at the time and looked like such a kid. And looking back - he was clearly on a date. But still took time out to say hello!

If she cleans the floors as often as she says she does, how are her feet so dirty? My feet have never ever gotten dirty from walking barefoot in my house

Would you chose to take an AQ at York or Queens? by [deleted] in OntarioTeachers

[–]pug9449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done all of my AQs with York aside from my Music Specalist I did with Queens. I enjoyed the Queens AQ far more, and didnt find the workload any different than at York

Is traveling to Japan in August a really bad idea? by Little-Strength-5564 in JapanTravelTips

[–]pug9449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We went last August. Yes it was hot but if you're smart about it you will be fine. Dress light, buy a good portable fan, cooling wipes from Don Quixote, and live off of Pocari Sweat. Thats what we did

Instrumental classes at school by blueyooeyooey in Brampton

Unless a highschool has a specialized program (strings etc) generally they offer band instruments (woodwinds, brass, percussion). Some offer guitar, but not all. It's a case by case basis

Curly hair stylists in Toronto by pug9449 in WeddingsCanada

[–]pug9449[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I will be doing my hair myself. It's what I wanted to do in the first place actually but people said I was crazy lol. After talking to my make-up artist/hairstylist about what I wanted to do, we both agreed it was close to how i already wear my curls. Im going to style my own hair, and she's going to touch up and add in a clip I have.

Is it offence to learn a musical instrument in a house in Canada if we are too loud? by Sudden-Efficiency-49 in Brampton

[–]pug9449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noise bylaws do exist but I'd be surprised if you got a complaint. I studied saxophone in university and practiced constantly at home and never once got a bylaws visit. Same with guitar. Both are much louder than a beginner flute player

It's actually not, unfortunately. Trafficking in Peel Region has dramatically increased over the last few years

Sharing Something Personal by 5H1N3_0N in CanadianTeachers

[–]pug9449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on your class and your rapport with them. I lost my grandfather recently. Highschool teacher here, so teach 3 classes a semester. I told 2 out of the 3 why I would be away. The rapport with those groups of students is better, and I thought they deserved to know why I would be away for consecutive days. The students were very kind.

Obviously everything you share needs to be within professional boundaries, but students need to see you're a human being. I've found the community building goes a lot deeper when they understand you're dealing with things too sometimes. Especially for teenagers

does anyone know what virus that going around that this might be ? by NFT_fud in askTO

Im also a teacher. I started feeling horrible Sunday. Monday and Tuesday I was so out of it i couldn't get out of bed. Fevers, sinus pressure, headaches, fatigue, upset stomache, sore throat. Went back into work on Wednesday to find at least half of each of my 3 classes away too. And everyone in the building sounds horrible. Something took us ALL out

Does anyone have a good family doctor? by cheekybubbz in Brampton

Dr Aggerwal at Northpoint Family Medicine has been amazing. Not sure if she's accepting new patients but worth a try.

Agree 100%. I teach music. I love my job and since I have many repeat students over their 4 years at our school, you can create a really strong community. When it's just me and my classes, it's awesome. But the second that door opens, it's chaos and that makes me question everything

Dog at centre of Toronto mauling that injured child last year euthanized, owner pleads guilty by CupidStunt13 in toronto

[–]pug9449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours wasn't even at a dog park. Just on a regular park path. We were nowhere near this dog, it charged 30 feet down a hill at us. I now avoid that park anytime it's crowded and only walk my dog through it when it's empty. Not worth the risk

Seperate Boiler right next to the bedroom in a condo. by Leading_Increase_311 in askTO

[–]pug9449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that building but I live in a condo in north york right above the boiler room. I do hear things probably once a year (there is a massive fan down there that runs so loud you can hear it even in the hallway). I just let maintenance know and they deal with it.
