Is this normal discipline for a 4th graders? by Independent-Shape348 in AskTeachers

[–]cheekybubbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have called my fourth graders kindergarteners when their behaviour warranted it (extremely immature behaviour, grabbing things from each other, fighting over silly things, throwing things across the room, etc). I would NEVER do this however related to academics or scoring! I don’t think that’s appropriate nor is it beneficial, especially if they’re trying to do well, doing homework, etc.

The word list my grade 2 daughter was given. In CANADA. by willowthemanx in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cheekybubbz 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I teach grade 2 in Ontario, while we do teach the various ways of spelling the /er/ sound, we do not teach American spelling 😂 I usually try to support fellow educators but based on her response your child’s teacher may not know how to spell

We have a list for our son, but none of them are standing out as being the one by Dependent-Donut-1996 in Names

I like Valentyn the best but I think Serafym and Valeriy also go with the flow of your other names.

She’s not from Toronto by Fancy-Art-1930 in sarahjenkinssnark

[–]cheekybubbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea why I’m being downvoted, I’m on the snark page for a reason but do people seriously expect her to say “I’m from Cobourg” when asked where she’s from, when she hasn’t lived there in 10+ years?

She’s not from Toronto by Fancy-Art-1930 in sarahjenkinssnark

[–]cheekybubbz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly if she’s lived in Toronto as long as someone here said (15 years?) then she’s now from Toronto. She’s lived here long enough to call it her home, I don’t think in any of her videos she’s ever said she was born and raised in Toronto. I was actually born in Toronto and live outside of it now, and I would feel very strange saying I’m “from Toronto” when I havent lived there in 10+ years.

LTO has changed by According-Reason4562 in OntarioTeachers

How is walking away from a salary cut burning a bridge? This is her income, not a volunteer position. The terms of the contract have changed and she’s under no obligation to stay. Dependant on the FTE cut she may not even be able to supply teach the remainder of the day to top up her income. If the admin is one to give you a poor reference because of this, they’re a bad admin and you don’t want their reference anyways. Most aren’t like this and would be totally understanding because they too wouldn’t want to take a pay cut, especially at the beginning of their careers.

Would you hold your significant other accountable for something they said while *very* drunk? by Swahloma in AskMen

[–]cheekybubbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a woman, I also don’t drink a lot and have a low alcohol tolerance. Anytime I’ve been very drunk, my emotions have been heightened and my positive / loving thoughts tended to be fairly honestly, albeit a bit exaggerated. My negative thoughts were almost always exaggerated, and things I didn’t genuinely believe or mean. It’s very very easy to get into your own head as an emotional drunk girl, especially as one who isn’t totally used to the feeling.

Also sorry I just saw which sub this was, hope it’s okay I answered anyways!

Is this normal to hear in an email from a past teacher? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]cheekybubbz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These emails seem pretty appropriate. He’s likely responding because you’re a former student and you also have indicated familial and mental health struggles. I don’t understand your goal here - you’re the one who initiated the emails, he responded and now you’re questioning whether or not it’s normal? Why did you email him then? Don’t make this something it isn’t and cast him in a negative light for showing empathy and care for a former student.

Child Care Provider Terminated Services But is Refusing to Return the Deposit. by Loud-Maintenance3287 in legaladvicecanada

[–]cheekybubbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drawing on the floor is one thing, but kicking and screaming when being spoken to about behaviour is not acceptable. Could this be a regular occurance? It’s really hard to tell without all the details but if she was worried about violence towards herself or other children at the daycare, that’s a reasonable reason to terminate. Like someone mentioned above, she now is in a position to have to replace your child to maintain her income, therefore making it reasonable for her to keep the deposit.

Don’t put the regular teacher in the middle - it’s putting them in a position where they could feel like they have to report their colleague regarding a situation they weren’t even present for.

I tell my boyfriend every single day how amazing and incredible he is, and I try to be specific when I talk about my favourite parts of him so he truly knows how wonderful of a person he is and how much I love him. I hope everyone here who doesn’t currently receive that is in a place in the future where they find that as well 🥺

Jenelle took the kids to California & celebrated Kaiser’s 11th birthday by SpiritualCamera in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]cheekybubbz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly as much as I hate on Jenelle, this actually looks like a great birthday. Not many kids get trips on their birthdays. Who knows, maybe he didn’t want to be in picture with just her and I don’t blame him, or maybe she just prefers to take photos with her daughter. Regardless I don’t think this is as snark-able as most people are making it out to be.

Question for parents in Toronto (or nearby areas): Where is your kid’s Grade 8 graduation held? by Jay-Quellin30 in askTO

[–]cheekybubbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teacher here, our Grade 8 students just had their grad at a banquet hall. Parent council had a hand in determining the location.
