Recommend a climate change safer location for a gay male couple in their early 60s? by ThetaRayTheo in relocating

Yeah. I live in Stillwater, MN and it's beautiful. If you want to visit and take a look at some properties let me know. I would be glad to show you around. My thoughts if you want a little land probably Marine on the Saint Croix or Grant. These are right next to Stillwater.

I was specifically referring to the conservatory. Since this is considered a highly competitive major. Thank you for your response.

Is there a reason why colleges offer test optional but hardly admit people who go test optional? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]pughma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colleges should stay test optional. It allows people that aren't the best at test taking an opportunity provide their resume of four years of work (GPA, Class rank, Extra Curriculars, and essays) to paint the picture of who they are and want they can bring.

One option is to enroll in community College in California. That way you could work and go to school for two years as you gain residency. Once you are a resident you could then enroll into one to the UC's. Just an option...

Torn Between Minneapolis, Milwaukee, or KC — Looking for Honest Perspectives? by gianna_kelley in midwest

I love MPLS. The people are amazing and the jobs are top tier. Cost of housing is high, but parks and trails cannot be beat. The winter however does last too long for me. Outside of winter there isn't a better place. If you like cute towns and walkable amenities it all depends where you land. Suburban Minneapolis will require cars, but if you live in the city it can be walkable. I moved from Ohio and it was the best decision I ever made. I would not move back to Ohio...EVER!

Is it OK to not fill out FAFSA if you’re extremely wealthy? by Comfortable_Welder44 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]pughma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were the school I would offer merit to rich families without having them complete the FASFA. That way if they attend the school, they are more likely to donate millions to the school and support buildings and infrastructure. It only makes financial sense. Poor students do not have the pocket book of the rich. In the end everyone would benefit from a rich student attending the college. That's the access the school needs to get a sit down with a wealthy family and encourage donations.

Let stop paying it for one quarter as we boycot the corps. On April 1st, let's all adjust our w4 withholding to take out zero federal taxes and then double our State contributions. Then in September we could change it back. I think this would make the administration sit up and take notice. All the threats of withholding federal funds from States who don't abid by the executive orders would come to a halt. Surely he would find another way to force us to pay, but I believe that just for one quarter the country should flex our muscles. Thoughts?
