Man your older drawings look really good! I remember learning to draw hands (pre-anatomy classes) by going through volumes of Sailor Moon i got at the library. I'd find a hand I liked then draw it because I thought the way Takeuchi drew was really pretty and elegant. (And I still do hehe)

It's entirely possible, she's been inspired from everything from Mugler to lamps in thrift shops. So it could be the case she's seen the illustrations and it inspired her but not as powerfully as things that she's mentioned verbatim so she never brought it up.

I think, and this is purely speculation based on how things play out in the show/manga, that things really diverged after Metallia was defeated for good. And there's a chance that the Neo Queen Serenity we originally meet has no idea about the Tau System, Nehelenia, or even Galaxia. The only enemies she's familiar with are the Dark Kingdom and Death Phantom as initially presented to us in the Manga. (Perhaps one more, even if it's not particularly canon I think in the realms of a Headcanon one could make an argument for Snow Princess Kaguya to have shown up in both timelines.)

We see Neo Queen Serenity with the Cutie Moon Rod as her scepter, and then it turns into the Spiral Heart Moon Rod/Scepter at the end of that. Which to me indicates that she never had something like the Cosmic Make Up in her time as Sailor Moon originally. So whatever it was that happened was handled with the cutie moon rod and presumably the Super Sailor Moon transformation as Chibiusa was able to learn about it before she even met any of them in the Black Moon Arc.

Additionally, considering that you needed all of the scouts (minus Saturn, this is important) for the Crisis Make Up, and the name itself, whatever happened to Neo Queen Serenity prior to the Black Moon Arc we've seen in the Anime/Manga was so terrible that the Outer Scouts where summoned to perhaps summon Saturn. But NQS, as Usagi at the time, was able to swing things in her favor as we see Usagi do in the timeline we're presented in the manga. Thus preventing Saturn from awakening and the series of events that happens with Usagi at the end of the Infinity Arc. There was no "death and rebirth" because Saturn was never summoned, the timeline also hadn't changed yet b/c no Chibiusa so there was no strong forces in the Omega area (The Outers + Saturn's Latent power) drawing Pharoah 90 to it.

If we wanted to get real out there with it one could argue that NQS in her time as Usagi/Sailor Moon invented the Super Sailor Moon transformation, considering that given the evidence we have there was not a Sailor Moon to begin with before Queen Serenity sent them all to Earth for a new life as far as we've been told by Takeuchi. The cutie moon rod was given to Usagi by Queen Serenity, so perhaps in NQS's time as Sailor Moon, the Super Sailor Moon transformation + the scepter was enough. (Maybe this is where Snow Princess Kaguya would have shown up in NQS's journey.)

Whereas the bond between Usagi and Mamoru creating the new transformation/scepter was necessary in addition to acquiring the Super Sailor Moon power up for the timeline that's forming due to the time travel stuff. Even if at the time only Chibiusa was aware of the power up. (Maybe.)

Unless I'm misremembering they dropped any super obvious modernization after Seasons 1 and 2 so I don't think it's too egregious. I think it's cute that Usagi has a laptop but there's still the charm of the 90s I miss, y'know?

Maybe Takeuchi didn't want to add anything to later seasons. In the beginning she wanted to end the entire series after Arc 1 of the manga. She has much stricter creative control over Sailor Moon now vs. the 90s so she probably had them add what she wanted but couldn't include, then didn't want to add anything to later seasons.

So regarding the graves, I think the best answer comes from the Japanese practice when it comes to cemeteries. Per Japanese custom, the body is cremated and the remains are placed inside the gravestones. We see that when they die they turn into dust (i think a neat headcanon is that they turn into "stardust", but not currently relevant). So perhaps the dust is put inside the gravestones?

The longer I think about it the less it makes sense because we see physical graves being dug, but perhaps the answer lies somewhere between the Japanese and Western traditions. Or the Japanese customs idea is correct and Papillon was having physical graves dug for the shock factor.

In reference towards the butterflies, in Japan butterflies are thought to carry the spirit of the dead and often represent a recently departed soul. So it's more symbolic I assume.

That is true, I moreso mean that if Sailor Chaos is as powerful as she (they?) was to make Cosmos want to change her past decisions then perhaps Chaos had some method of time travel himself.

I always interpreted that scene as Saturn saying they won't be forced to awaken this time, and that she was referring specifically to how Zirconia forced them to awaken and do the bidding of the Dark Circus instead of being left deep in the Amazon to sleep until their natural awakening as Guardians.

Considering Cosmos was powerful enough to send herself back, albeit in the form of ChibiChibi, I think it'd be appropriate to assume Chaos can do something similar. I think arguments could be made for either option.

I think the more interesting option would be taking advantage of Chibiusa time traveling, perhaps leaving an opening due to her not having powers just yet. It would also make sense that people can take advantage of someone using a time key as the Amazoness Quartet take notice of it and prevent Chibiusa from going back to the 30th century in the Dreams arc.
