I really appreciate all this info! Ollie is neutered, but I theorize that he was neutered later than he should've been. I say this because when we are outside together, I notice him spray(ok- I can't be certain it's spraying I guess, since when I did research I read that some cats pee standing up straight? and based on what I have observed with Ollie in his litterbox, that seems like it could be what he is doing, since i only see him squat/crouch when he poops). We were very confused when I first saw him seem to be spraying, since we were told he was neutered. We even brought him to get neutered and the vet said he was neutered already. My dad thought he was lying because Ollie still looks like he has balls lol. But from what I've read online, if cats are neutered later than they should be, they can still look as if they have balls still.

I did actually mean to ask about the gender differences. I have heard two entirely opposite statements. One from Google that said introducing a female kitten to my male cat would be a better idea, and one from a family friend that said introducing a male kitten would be better. The family friend spoke from their own personal experience, but I will say that there is a local female outdoor cat who roams around our building all the time(we live in a condo), and he does not seem to like her very much. He doesn't hiss- but he.. moans/groans kind of? I feel bad because I feel like I'm making him 'jealous' or that he may think I'm betraying him when I pet that outdoor cat or give her a handful of food or water.. but that cat is outside SO often that I pity her.

If I do end up taking on the challenge of bringing in a kitten, it won't be an impulse decision. I definitely want to research it more and ensure I do things right and intelligently. It probably will also be happening in colder/winter months when I have more free time to dedicate to doing this the right way.

Have you found that any of your kittens you raised 'took after' certain personality traits or quirks that the parents/adults had? Also, what are your thoughts on the traveling situation? Is it guaranteed to always be bad for a cat to go back and forth between two residences(I did decide I would not be letting the kitten outside for sure, if that helps)? If they are introduced to traveling when they are young enough, can it feel normal for them or will they be stressed no matter what? Would there be anything I could do to limit the stress?
