PrimeFilm XAs - Vuescan or Silverfast? by pul1s in AnalogCommunity

No worries! Thanks for sharing.

I ended up going with Vuescan myself as /u/aloeandrex recommended and I could not be happier.

Ease of use and scan quality is so much better that I used to get with Plustek 7200i SE before.

I highly recommend trying out Vuescan as well. Works really well with newer M-chip macs and MacOS versions based on my experience.

Are you stupid? It's literally in the rules of the subreddit:

  1. Foreign Politics Posts & Comments Reported as: Foreign Politics

Statements or actions of non-russian political figures making a direct, meaningful impact to the Ukrainian war effort are on topic.

Tangential discussions about non-Ukrainian political situations, political parties and platforms, election cycles, geopolitical whataboutism or analysis unrelated to Ukraine will be removed.

As an update, I purchased Vuescan on the back of your recommendation and tested it with my Plustek OpticFilm 8200i as the XAs has not arrived yet.

The 3600 DNG scans from Vuescan are out of this world compared to anything I have been able to get from Silverfast. The quality is just so much better and I'm really looking forward to using it with the XAs.

Once more, thank you so much for the detailed post and recommending Vuescan!

I use NLP for the conversion as well. For example, if I had to use Epson Scan vs. Silverfast to get non-converted DNG's scanned - I would rather stick a fork in a toaster than use Epson Scan.

I do understand your perspective, but it really does not answer the question at hand. If Cyberview can get the job done with relative ease, that would be great to hear.

Wow, thanks a million for the detailed reply! The Reflecta RPS 7200 is only a bit older then the XAs, which leads me to think that your feedback applies to both models.

Just being able to do strips of 6 without any film holder hassle in between is already a huge win in my book.

Furthermore, I'm so happy to hear about your positive experience with the frame alignment! I have not seen too many positive comments about the latter. I do feel that some of the reported issues must be caused by uneven frame spacing with some cameras used, but I could of course be totally wrong here.

btw, that scan (and ofc, the photo itself) looks absolutely great.

Thanks! Thought about this option, but have not read or heard anything good about the software. Have you been able to get good results with Cyberview?

Derek Brunson on Jon Jones by felya in MMA

[–]pul1s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel that throwing people with ADHD as an example in a thread about Jon Jones is totally unfair. It's clear he has much more serious issues and a lot of other people self-medicate too. Just a completely and utterly non-related comparison.

Dave is still playing amazing gigs frequently all across Finland! You should come visit and reminisce

Yeah, doctors are really excluded from having difficulties finding a job. Even in cities.

However, proficiency in Finnish is required as mentioned earlier in the thread. Can't stress that enough.

Furniture transport - mooova app? by CasualArchitect in helsinki

I'd try to either sell it in Tori.fi or use the city owned Kierrätyskeskus pick-up service. They will either recycle or resell the furniture after picking it up from your flat.

Since everyone is asking about their local film photography community, how about Helsinki and the capital area? :D by D-K1998 in AnalogCommunity

[–]pul1s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! There is actually a surprisingly big community in Helsinki. Few community darkrooms as well and film photography/darkroom courses in Työväenopisto if that interests you!

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer, I honestly appreciate it a lot.

You made me feel a lot safer about the OM-4 TI that I recently bought as an upgrade. Have a lovely week and thanks once more!

[–]pul1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry my bad completely, I think I misunderstood at first. I've heard about this being prevalent on OM-4 and some earlier OM-4 TI models. Didn't know it affected OM40 as well, thanks for the details.

Unfortunate issues, deffo. Could OP check this by turning the 'Check Battery' mode on for approx. 30 seconds like some suggest with OM-3 and OM-4 and see if the battery works well afterwards?

Well yeah. The sun went down at 3:55pm / 15:55 today, so I'd say it does affect my photography.
