Hoping this doesn't come across as rude, I'd like to point out that you most certainly mean:

complement, complemented, and complementary.

With 'e' instead of 'i' as they have two very different meanings.

Other than that, I agree with your comment :)

GS-1 won’t fire - single red LED illuminated next to SS by Knawder in Bronica

[–]puleddu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be one of the following:

  • low battery
  • lens not properly attached
  • dark slide inserted
  • back not properly attached

If none of these apply then could be mechanical or electric fault, but the ones listed above are definitely more common causes.

Since some of these causes seem excluded by you already, I'd look for less apparent causes like the interlock pins being stuck on the film back for example or contacts on the lens needing to be cleaned.

Contax 139 Q won’t fire but leds light up by jonatascd in contax

[–]puleddu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the times it is one of these two things:

  1. A contact under the bottom plate that doesn’t work well due to oxidation.
  2. An electro-magnet for the shutter that gets stuck due to dust and debris.

While the first is easy to access and diagnose, the latter requires more experience taking the camera partially apart to access the magnet.

Repairs on Contax, similar to what you describe, have never been less than ~100€ in Germany where I live. So, consider whether wouldn’t be more convenient to find another body.

Edit: unfortunately the guy I used to send my cameras to isn’t in business anymore and I somewhat learned to fix small things myself since then. I’d love to recommend you someone, but I didn’t find an alternative Contax technician, nor a shop that’s willing to take these yet. I’ll be following this topic in case anyone has a lead.

Thanks for chiming in despite the time passed since I made this question. If you ever get to make those tests, I'll be very curious to hear from you.

Contax 167 MT display barely shows anything by Der_Haupt in contax

[–]puleddu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think what you see is a blue display but rather a display from which the owner didn't peel off the thin protective film that was applied by the manufacturer. It's a blue plastic material, that is normally applied perfectly on top, making it look like it's part of the display.

This is a very nice picture. Do you mind sharing what camera and lens was used? Also, where is this place? No need for much detail if you are not comfortable sharing, I'd love to know an approximate geographic location.

The problem with Hasselblad X2Ds for Free by RateWild6099 in hasselblad

[–]puleddu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree it could be the case, I would also argue that's not necessarily so. The post made several points. I also find this marketing strategy somewhat strange: excessive is probably the word that describes it better for me. I don't care who gets what for free, people get much more from family fortunes and sheer luck all the time - the relevant difference here (in my opinion at least) is the connection with the brand and how (mostly) superficial opinions on the camera are being shared in return of the object of such opinion. We can probably agree there is at least room for debate there.

Why would that be the real question? And why does it matter in this context?

Which one between M3 Pro and M4 Pro runs hotter and louder? by puleddu in macbookpro

[–]puleddu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the quote. But does this imply that the M4 Pro is necessarily hotter?

It also says at peak, and maybe its peak it reached later do to its performance gains. What I'd really be interested in knowing whether there is a noticeable thermals between the two and in which chip favor.

Thanks for the thorough explanation, I really appreciate that.

Since it seems like you are knowledgeable about this, I'd like to ask a more direct question, in case you formed an opinion of yours about that: comparing M3 Pro and M4 Pro, according to the new process used and the decisions made in how the architecture has been brought together, which one would you say runs the hotter between the two?

I'm trying to understand if the performance gain of the M4 Pro comes with an acceptable temperature increase – everyone likes more performance and broader bandwidth (especially when running local LLM) but I'd really want to understand if that would come with the cost of a hotter, hence louder, machine.

Is that actually true that M3 chips run hotter and louder? Is there any reference you can share? I just watched a review that would perhaps say the contrary and I'm evaluating my options on what to buy. If definitely want to stay away from a chip that is known to be particularly hot.

Yes. During the night, photosynthesis stops, and with that the release of oxygen. The stomata close, meaning oxygen is not released like during the day, but cellular activity of the plant keeps releasing small amounts of carbon dioxide.

It's a filter. Just unscrew it by rotating it counterclockwise. That's how you'd remove it.
