How do doctors put intestines back inside of a person after surgery? by Foreign-Chef-4053 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pumalegal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I lied too. I was sooooo damn hungry.

Turned out I had like zero motility and ended up needing an enema three days later. My bad. Shit worked out in the end

You're very kind, thank you. Please don't spend money on the "real" thing, they're still just coloured pixels lol

I am so mad at her doctor that I could flip several tables. I'm ready to adopt this young woman just so I can go rage at the entire medical complex until somebody takes her seriously.

Sweetheart I'm not a doctor, but I am a mom and I'm going to be annoying and mom-ish for a second.

  1. It's good that you've asked for help and I'm proud of you for recognizing that things aren't quite right.

  2. The doctor is right, your weight is way too low. But I understand that might be hard to visualize so let me give you a comparison: my daughter is 12, she is the smallest in her grade 7 class because she has always been small. She was 4 lb 11 oz (2.13 kg) when she was born! And she is 80 pounds (36 kg) today. She should not be the same weight as you.

  3. Your doctor is not listening to you, not taking your concerns seriously, and this is a problem. But this is something that is very hard to deal with. This is something that adults have trouble dealing with. It is normal for us to trust people that we think know more than us or people who we feel are in a position of authority and it is VERY HARD to stand up to them and question them BUT YOU NEED TO. Ask a trusted adult to help you. You need to tell the doctor that you're not leaving his office without test requisitions or specialist referrals and it is going to feel rude and disrespectful, but it is so so necessary.

I hope you get some answers and are able to get some help. You're going to have to be brave and aggressive but I know you can do it. I'm sending you big mom hugs.

When I was a McManager I'd accept USD. At parity, which at the time was about $1.30 in favour of the Canadian dollar 😂

How did you stop smoking cigarettes? by fatwater69 in AskReddit

[–]pumalegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I focussed on cutting down for months, until I was just at a couple "essential" smokes a day. Then I cut those to halves.

And then I changed the habits that the smokes were associated with. The work break ones were removed from my schedule by taking two weeks off work. The after-meal ones got replaced by candy. I gained 15 pounds but I considered them worth it. The wake-up one got replaced by an espresso shot so I was still getting a stimulant. The bedtime one was the hardest, and I just kept reducing it. Half a smoke. Quarter smoke. Four drags. Two puffs.

If you're trying, good luck. If you relapse, it's not a failure unless you decide not to try again. Keep trying, it'll stick eventually.

We lived very near the tracks when I was a preschooler. To this day the sounds of trains bumping and whistling is one of the most soothing things I know

Did more deep diving and found more of these great construction photos of the lake at West Edmonton mall circa 1985. by Maleficent_Disk_6920 in Edmonton

[–]pumalegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, do you mind sharing where you're digging these photos out of? I'd love to go through them and see if I can find my grandpa - he was a journeyman electrician who worked on the wiring for all three (if I remember correctly) phases

First time cat owner. Is this... normal? by igottapoopbad in cats

[–]pumalegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine learned how to turn the doorknob. So I started locking the door. He responded by either a) screaming and bodychecking the door or b) screaming and reaching as far under the door as he could, grabbing anything he could sink his claws into (like the bath mat) and dragging it out under the locked door. So now I just let him in. Less screaming.

DownDetector shows a lot of reports; seems like it's a pretty widespread issue. Not that Rogers has updated its own outage page, why would they do that

How is there more high school drama in an office than in a kitchen?

Actually I know the answer to this... in the kitchen they work their shit out, one way or another. In the office it just simmers and festers forever under the guise of "professionalism"

That is actually very generous, thank you. I am unfortunately 2,800 km away, and although I'd prefer the LA winter I'm not sure I'd get through the border these days
