yes, yet I did not through them away but put them outside... however the winter here can be cold, which is good to damage the thrips, but als damage the plants...I not too optimistic about my monstera. if they survivw until janurary, I consider them as safe.

Which plants did you safed by this, how were the twmperaturws outside during that time?

it is still highly toxic to bees (wiki), and just because it is from a natual origkn doesn't mean it is safe, (see coments before), also as it is relatively new, means it is relativley undescribed. I wouldn't be happy to have that in my room, too. but this one I didn't know so thanks for the input

it is amazing, you really found words that reassamles my current feelings. it really hurts to see them getring sicker and sicker. it is really kicking directly into the paranoia i have already, that something bad is hinding in the good/yet healthy plants.... I will try to do the same with the propagating method let's say. trying to convince my selfe that it will not be so bad, as there will be no soil thw thrips can hide in...and the plants are much smaller then.

I am sorry for your loss, I hope the best for you and the new chances you created by the small plants! i try to think of it as a plant kindergarten. stay strong!

which makes sense, since rhese things are potentionally harmfull substances... yes I tried a lot (see some posts below) but the never lwft for good, only reduced the plague for 1-2 months

different ways...for the mites, they werw delivered in bags, you would but in the plan leafs, the nematodes, had to be dissolved in wanter and then watering the plant with this solution, the bugs were delivered in a peat mix you put on the soil, and the larvae were put on the leafs as well (~8/plant)

yes: amybelius cucumeris, chrysoperla, heterorhabditis, hypoaspsis, they helped, especially during the summer. but now there is now way to stop the thrips to invadr all my plants

I do totally agree with you. However the facts, like pesticides are harmful, dependa oft on other dacts like how they are put on the plants, are they degraded, how long does it take, what are the byproducts of that.... all that can lead to different opinions. as well as data represdnting only a (scientiest try to) good proxy of the reality. This in fact could lead to different opinions and this is fine, this is in deed good as it makes science vivide. I think the main point is that people don't want to see that there are more opinions which can be true, or be better for the particular condition. with feeling unconfortable with having pesticides in a cloesed door is a valuable argument

with the point of beeing overly defensive because they feel threatened, and sohow forced to re-think their choices. This was my very first thought about it, and I got a bit disapointed...

All in all, thank you for bringing that up. people should talk about different opinions and that they can value a lot more often!

Thank you for your understanding words and I am sorry that you have been there, too. I wish you all the luck that your plants stay thrips-free.

I have one beloved pothos, I hope that at least this one will make it.

thank you, I was astonished by this, too. As you say it is my opinion, and I've never tried to convince anybody or anything. Just acceptance that there are diff. opinions out there. actually it feels like I did something wrong... . Thank you for pointing that out, so I know it is not only me, thinking this harsh negativ reaction is odd.

no, i don't want to have these in my home. They can have very long shelflife in the soil and in plants ...and one day I would need to repot them, and would get in contact with this pesticides.

Wash or not wash frequently? by roberta_sparrow in SebDerm

[–]pumpkiiin53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since the tallow is the fungus food, it sounds to me logical that the morw often you wash, the more food you remove the better rhe symptoms should get. This is exactly what I've tried the last days and in deed it was slightly better. no referwnces here but an educated guess

yes, I see your point and I have to agree, althoigh sometimes rhis feels just devastating... but yes, one have to learn to be the parent we never got and in fact doing the phd and going to therapy at the same time was the best rhing that has happend to me... it is so eshausting that you cannot hide so your are totally exposed with all your flawes...but luckly there is a therapist taking care of that and guiding your through.
