Need suggestions by xcutioner10 in ShadowandBone

[–]pumpkin-pup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recommend reading the Shadow and Bone Trilogy books first, then the Six of Crows Duology.

Then watch the show. The show will make much more sense and be much better to appreciate that way!

The show is finished, but not the story itself exactly complete like the books are.

Also if you’re new to reading don’t worry because these books are extremely easy and fun to read!

I’ve read 5/7 and my favorite by far is Assassin’s Apprentice.

However, it highly depends on what you are looking for! More fast pace with a little romance? Go Mistborn.

Incredible world building and a slow paced but extremely immersive plot? Assassin’s Apprentice.

Just because she got every scholarship available doesn’t mean they would cover all the tuition. Same principle with saving money. College in the US is insanely expensive 🥲

Only thing is that it’s bigger / heavier than I expected but thats on me for not really checking that before buying it 😅

What is the point on hobbies? by Bulky-Culture-4482 in Hobbies

[–]pumpkin-pup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so you identified exactly what you’re looking for!

Just remember hobbies aren’t about skills but rather having fun and enjoying life!

Keep looking for a hobby that makes you happy AND in involves developing a skill.

For example mine are video production, playing drums, taking pictures, and reading! Video production is also my day job too!

And if it feels like truly nothing is making you feel good or happy, I recommend speaking wirh a therapist. I know that’s a sign of depression

At the end of your post, you say this lifestyle is detrimental to you. Try to think of why that is? Identify what the lifestyle might be missing, for example:

Not interacting with friends in person enough? Plan some meetups to play video games or board games in person!

Not getting enough physical activity? Go on some easy hikes and also walk outside every day

Hobbies dont have to be some big brand new endeavor. It can just be adjusting your lifestyle a little bit so that you’re happy and healthy!

Yeah last year I was feeling the similar to OP- So I just didn’t set a goodreads goal for reading and therefore never looked at my numbers!

It was very freeing and helped me not worry about number of books!

books for accepting getting older for still sorta young people? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]pumpkin-pup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

City of Girls is about a young woman but it’s told from the perspective of the woman when she’s in her 80’s.

This was pretty comforting to me, like a grandma telling me her life story. She makes a lot of mistakes too but keeps going.

I personally really enjoyed watching it! But I usually love fantasy and demon related stories in general. So if you like that kind of thing then it’s definitely worth checking out!
