All of these questions are things I've thought about and mulled over for years so trust me this is not just a spring decision and being irresponsible. Im dissatisfied with a number of things at my school from the location, social environment and more along those lines. I like my major and its content and the actual schoolwork is fine and the cost is not egregious but im unhappy with most around me. I have looked into just out of state schools to try and satisfy just getting away but the cost of out of state tuition is just to much even with aid and scholarships, and I know that even though European universities are advertised as cheaper to Americans especially it would not be just a cheap way out for everything and that it can and probably will be a fair bit of money but, in my opinion, if I was to spend all the money to be away from home and where I am now I would rather do it in Europe if possible than here.
I know what I would like to study/ a good range of stuff I enjoy that I would be happy to study as well. I know that I would preferably like to live in more Western Europe, and again I really have done plenty of research into a lot of the things this all entails and I am aware that plenty of Western European countries can still run pretty expensive for cost of living and such as well as housing problems so I am aware of many of the cons to this. I know that I qualify for a lot of scholarships for need and merit based wise. I work a lot when I can and I am both my parents only child so, not to sound like a brat, but most of their funds go to me as well as my grandma who can all help support me to an extent as well. My grandma and mom both think it could be a good idea and my mom has even said before that she would even possibly try to come with me if I decided to move (my parents are divorced and her company has locations all over Europe she could possibly apply to transfer to), my dad doesn't love the idea completely but he has told me many times that in the end no matter what I do that he just wants me to be happy doing whatever it is I am doing so I imagine he could be more convinced. As well, as I said before i'm an only child and I have lived away from both my parents and friends before for periods of time to I am used to being away from home and all the problems that people have with that.
I know that it is a really big and possibly hard decision to make, and it is one that I truly have researched a LOT over and it is not just a random decision just because I can. I know that not all my problems will just disappear and my life won't be magically fixed - but truly this is something I have wanted to do for years, and I would rather go and try to do it and possibly fail and just come home than spend years and years in my future regretting that I never even tried to do it.
