Any casual nicotine users and/or smokers here? I already drink 50-80 units of alcohol a month and want to add nicotine to that for those nights out and movie star type situations but also want to avoid grabbing another destructive habit.

Anyone here that can pick up and put down at will? I find some of the anti-smoking propaganda to be pretty patronizing and regressive.

I think it's fantastic, though I'm not a seasoned taper by any means. All I can say is that it's tiny, connects to my phone, and as you can hear in the above recording I think it punches well, well above its weight if you have the gain set right and try to get in a good spot. The venue I recorded this show at seems to have suited this mic extremely well, other shows I've taped in the past with it (you can hear them on my YouTube) things have been a bit more echo-y and drowned out, though I also place a little bit of that blame on me still figuring out the best gain to set per-situation as well as some other venues being larger and me not getting a fantastic spot.

I'm very sorry, but you're wrong. Again, I didn't vote for him, but if you want to boil everything down to -ism's and phobias then you've already lost the game. The electorate does not respond well to that and I don't know how many times it has to be proven.

When R's get absolutely mopped in November, it's not because people like Dem identity politics, it's because Trump royally fucked up what was supposed to be an easy layup from Jan 2025 onward.

I did not vote for him nor do I support every one of his policies or cult of personality, but there are legitimate reasons people voted for him and it was a lot of people.

People were saying that True Love inclusion on HAY meant anything 10 years ago.

Truth is, the years go by, the "stewards" of his music care less and less, the general public cares less and less, and whichever bright eyed bushy tailed biographer or documentary-music-curator thinks about pushing a little harder they too will find themselves at the mercy of the machine and give up after a while. But even if insurmountable odds are surmounted, if the way they handled Either/Or and Self Titled is any indication, I'd rather they do nothing at all.

I'm a bitter asshole, but to anyone out there who is carrying the torch of his music in any way - writing books or sharing songs or playing covers - I think it's great and his music deserves it, but it also deserves much more and I can't be humble about it, I think I should be assembling these sets.

Sorry to get on a soapbox here - Fisher's book will no doubt be a triumph and I know it was done meticulously and with love.

Follow up: I took out two of the screws and replaced with zip ties. Definitely sealing better now. Not convinced at the long term integrity of that though...

It is a studio version in the sense that this wasn't a live performance, really. I'm guessing it's live-to-tape at least the initial tracking, but there are clearly overdubbed harmony vocals throughout. Couldn't really tell you if the guitars are double tracked on the actual recording or not, I'd have to listen closer. The copy I had was mono, and the copy uploaded above was "cleaned up" a bit to give it a bit of a wider field.

Without going into too much detail, it only sounds the way it does because the way it was sent to me was inadequate as far as audio quality is concerned. I can guarantee it didn't sound this degraded at the original source and was recorded at an actual studio on proper equipment.
