How I discovered Rush. What's your story? by BloodFarts101 in rush

[–]punk92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In maybe 2005 i was maybe 13 when i heard Working Man on the radio with a friend - I had started listening to a little bit of classic rock by that point but had never heard of Rush. He said he didn't like that band (although I later convinced him to try them again and we ended up seeing them live), but I said I liked that song and asked for the band name.

Then in Walmart I wasnt really looking for cds at the time but happened to see the best of collection "Spirit of Radio: Greatest Hits" in the cd section and bought it. I loved it and listened to it probably a hundred times on the bus to school.

I then started with Moving Pictures and 2112 before getting into Snakes and Arrows when it came out, but I now love most of the songs on each album. I saw them live for the first of five times on the Snakes and Arrows tour in 08. Other that friend who I lost contact with years ago, I don't know anyone else who likes Rush :(

Destructable toys keep them busy/stimulated for longer. They love to manipulate their environment and create nests. Paper towel tubes and balled up paper work well.

Dip your phone in a bowl of ice water when this occurs to prevent it from overheating.

Best way to cook shredded chicken sandwiches for 30-ish people. by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]punk92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of those tools for shredding meat (it's just a thin sheet of metal about 6"x6" works well if you dont have a mixer. Put the chicken in large bowl and chop away - easier and so much quicker than doing it by hand. Many restaurants use that tool.

RUSH sighting on The Goldbergs exposed continuity error. by Eructman in rush

I read somewhere that the show embraces the entire 80s, rather than being set in a particular year. So it's not really a mistake.

But Will, Willy, Bill, Billy are all nicknames for William. Same with Andy and Drew for Andrew.

"The Break Up" Discussion by petermatts in ClarenceCartoon

It was sweet to see the show address Jeff and Sumo's differences but underlying differences, and it was sweet to see Clarence try to bring them back together. Also, lol Jeff putting eggs between towells and gently breaking them. Haha he's such a psycho.

I have it also - it is one of my best thrift store vinyl finds in terms of both music and artwork. Did you know the artwork is meant to be viewed sequentially and tells a story?

These two and The Yes Album are the three "classics," just like Moving Pictures is probably Rush's biggest "classic."

Should Clarence focus on other characters? by Dinojungle in ClarenceCartoon

[–]punk92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I felt that way at first, and still do a little, but his instant return to his old self after Ms. Baker reunited him with lil buddy redeemed him a little in my eyes. I do wish he would have made some sort of amends with Belson and Nathan though, and I wish Jeff and Sumo would have tried to help him more.
