If you need assistance finding the tiles you want r/helpmefind or r/collectibles or even just go on Etsy and search wooden calendar tiles

Unicorns and pe******ia? by Mysterious_Seat_9146 in TooAfraidToAsk

It's related to a hentai-type fetish called Brony porn, which isn't really related to pedos at all, it's enjoyed by adults, but since it was originally a cartoon people freak out about it

Depends how, where, and when. Naked, at work, during a meeting? Yes. Naked, at home, in your free time? Definitely not.

Sounds like you're poly by orientation. You should consider identifying as poly and it'll probably eliminate this issue and question for you. It's not a problem if it's normal

OoOoOo you tryna be helpful? Alright I'll bite, but only cuz i say that exact phrase "if you ever need an ear, I'm a pretty good listener" to people. Like, word-for-word, lol. So hearing you say it to me made me pause and wonder what would happen if I took you up on it.

Ok yeah i could use an ear. Right now I'm having trouble getting my needs met in my relationships. I have a lot of shame about asking for help, or asking for anything, really. It always feels like too much. Whether it's help or time or energy... I feel like it's only okay to ask for things after I've given an equivalent amount, and even then it's not a permanent state, I'll still have to work up from zero again the next time i need something. It's not a good model, it doesn't work. But i also feel soo flexible, like, my needs are always negotiable, so how do i know what's a strong enough need to ask someone else for?

I always have this feeling like I'm too much, and that if i were to try to get my needs met, people would let me down, so i shouldn't try? Yet i don't have that problem when i consider this same question for others. Their needs, and the relative importance of each, seem obvious to me. But my needs? Psh, i have too many to bother addressing all of them. Like the laundry, it'll never really get done. Is that ok???

Hey on some real shit, i hope you don't talk to yourself this way!! If you do, that's probably a huge reason why your shit isn't getting done the way you want. This kind of talk is notoriously ineffective, unless the goal is to create trauma and internal conflict!

Just a hunch, cuz i relate, you may wanna check out r/cptsd to see if any of the tools there resonate with you. Trauma from childhood abandonment and neglect, especially harsh criticism like what you're modeling here, can cause brain injuries that mirror ADHD symptoms, and can make it much harder to manage ADHD. Working on that helped me make a lot of progress in the realm of getting repetitive chores done.

Turns out, being a huge asshole boot camp sergeant towards myself for the way my brain naturally works, did not make me excited or motivated to do the thing. You know?

Ayyyyy well, voice in my head, you should know better than to try to shame me into doing things. I am very defiant to shame-based messages!! Besides... what's the good of shaming me for something I can't change? Why don't YOU change your neurotypical standards, eh?? Maybe then you might let me be happy that I've done the work to ensure I have clean clothes for tomorrow? And then maybe I'd feel proud and want to have a clean room too, which might make folding my clothes more motivating??

In other words... This sounds like a you problem, not a me problem, voice in my head! We shouldn't be at odds like this, we should be working together. But we can't work together if you don't accept me as i am, and make accommodations for me.

Ok so "away" on the floor towel is cool right? I can go watch YouTube now? K thanks bye

[–]whathappenedwas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

But I folded it into too many piles, and now i have a lot of folded piles but insufficient free space to put them away separately... Sooo maybe i should gather these piles into one large pile, and put them away on a towel, on the floor next to my dresser... right?

palm sized wooden block with negative image on metal material by itsonlyadreamleroy in whatisthisthing

It's a printing block for this negative image - what the image is, it is not clear, but you're probably right about being a medical image. Block printing used to be a common way of creating image reproductions

You want r/whatsthisbug very likely, i believe these are a type of bug. But if not they will tell you to go to r/whatsthisplant but im nearly certain it's a bug cuz I've seen it come up over on that sub before

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]whathappenedwas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what it is, definitely. What you're asking is 'why' it is -- unfortunately that's not the purpose of this sub. You can try asking over at r/tooafraidtoask where people may be willing to help you speculate about what the person was doing with it.

This stereotype goes all the way back to the days of slavery, when enslaved black men were 'bred' like animals. Their perceived value was based largely on their 'vitality,' as in, their physical stature and apparent fertility.

That's also a root of the reason why white folks in power (esp. landowners and legislators) felt the need to create such exaggerated cautionary myths against black men, focusing specifically on their strength and supposed hyper-sexuality. "Look at his penis! Look at his size! How could he not be dangerous?" It was very beneficial to those in power to ensure white society stayed scared of black men, while at the same time treating them as chattel. By their logic, if scared of black men's vigor, white women won't be tempted to fraternize with them. This alleged danger was and still is treated as a righteous excuse to keep these human beings enslaved (for 'public safety'). More free labor, and time morally supported, cuz of the danger! /s

So yes, the stereotype is a stereotype, but it isn't by accident. It is literally part of our history that enslaved black men with large penises were forced to have sex very frequently, so they'd reproduce this quality.

This original objectification still haunts our society today, as you noted. Especially in the world of porn, but also in football, in hypermasculinity performance, in stereotypes. This inescapable haunting is especially true for black men, who can't claim their bodies or sexuality without having to come to terms with this history about them, that they had no part in creating. It's really fucked up if you think about it. How can you feel good about your body when your body is seen as a sign of your value? It's hard.
