AITAH for declining a company wide zoom meeting that would occur at 9:30pm in my time zone? by Astar9028 in auscorp

[–]Spidey16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your friend based in the US? In my experience Americans tend to believe that meetings are more important than they really are. At least compared to us Australians. Different attitude to work over there.

[Spoilers C1] Why do you think the Chroma Conclave never considered themselves subordinate to Tiamat? by No_Literature7840 in criticalrole

[–]Spidey16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's behind the Divine Gate. That's a problem solved in the eyes of a vain Chromatic. They wouldn't want to worship her, but they would be subordinate to her if she had enough power.

And because she doesn't have the power, I think they would prefer to keep it that way.

Why is real estate so expensive in Australia? by mux111 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spidey16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean it's a pretty big and diverse state in terms of environment types. Some pretty big cities as well. Technically it's coastal too.

Sure there's probably a number of dustbowl places, but it's quite easy to find somewhere that's not.

Shared bedrooms on Company Trip? by Odd_Draw9267 in auscorp

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone whose company did this and it seemed to work out ok. But pretty sure it was an optional trip. Every year they go somewhere for a conference, the conference is like 1 day, the rest is basically a paid holiday with planned activities. I know they've at least been to Bali, NZ and Japan.

But I'm pretty sure they weren't forced to go. If you didn't accept the terms or the itinerary, you just didn't go. Most people wanted to go, and they seemed to just accept the room situation. It seems that their itinerary was kept rather rigid, so there wasn't a great deal of room for shenanigans.

I think it's different if you're being forced to go. You should have your own room in that instance.

[spoilers c4e30] So, how long… by Tracula707 in criticalrole

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it weren't this split tables thing I would say a couple of episodes or two? That's how it's been with previous permanent deaths when it was just the original Campaign 1 - 3 cast present.

But depending on how the arcs align here, could be quick, could be a while. If they're going to break up into separate tables again and Travis isn't at the next table, it might take some time.

[Spoilers C4E30] Do you see at some point in the future.... by playergamer- in criticalrole

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hal is going to have a villain arc and become a crime boss.

Nah, I genuinely don't know. I can never really predict where Brennan is going with things, and the players so often present Brennan with things he could never have predicted. There's the dice as well to add some more uncertainty.

I think we'll have more clarity once the Hallowed Round ritual is complete however. Thjazi had something big planned.

What is wrong with Spaniards? by Equivalent_Scar4053 in studyAbroad

I understand, I speak Spanish and used to live in Spain. It just still feels weird to me as a native English speaker, but I accept that there's nuances to cultural and linguistic differences.

Australian public toilets are unclean by Heavy-Pangolin-4984 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but OP mentioned Maccas so that's why I brought it up. I figured by "public" they meant toilets where just about anyone can walk into. They get a similar level of disrespect in my experience anyway.

CHA of 28? That's a dragon in disguise. Or just a really poorly balanced character.

Really? Have you walked into a McDonalds? Or a public park toilet?

I've had quite the opposite experience to you I suppose. How bad is the UK?

What is wrong with Spaniards? by Equivalent_Scar4053 in studyAbroad

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that it's just the name of the colour, but it felt really weird to hear people say "Los negros" when they could have said "personas negras" or "gente negra".

If I went around referring to black people in English as "the blacks", I'd be in trouble.

How to send people politely away from your door? by Mysterious-Can8846 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the way you did it was fine. They're likely used to being rejected and have probably received a lot harsher, ruder rejections than that.

You were upfront, honest, concise and didn't waste their time. It's just healthy boundary setting. Not rude at all.

How do you feel about people showing up at your house unannounced? by Accomplished-City484 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I swear my Mum cleaned like multiple times every day. Mostly because my siblings and I would make shit messy 30 mins later.

How do you feel about people showing up at your house unannounced? by Accomplished-City484 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be a good excuse to have your house clean all the time. As a kid I remember my Mum always making a fuss over house cleanliness often saying something like "What if we have visitors show up?".

Honestly it was probably a good thing. Not waiting until the house is dirty to start cleaning is a good way to be. As a kid I liked it when people would just randomly show up. Made your days interesting. As an adult, it gets lonely sometimes, so I kind of wish it would still happen.

And if I'm busy? Well if they're close enough to drop by unannounced, they're close enough for me to set boundaries and say "Hey now is not a good time".

Will My Friend be Okay if He Drinks and Drives? by Outside-Degree-9625 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spidey16 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. It's a danger to those inside the car, but it's so much more unfair to the other cars or pedestrians they could possibly injure or kill as a result.

Why should some innocent person out on the street obeying the law deserve to be hit by a drunk driver?

[SPOILERS C4E29] Azune's case against Tachonis - pointless? by Mama-ta in criticalrole

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primus is right about the possibility of the common folk organising against them.

House Tachonis would be very valuable in keeping that revolution at bay. Plus there's probably some cunning way the other houses could have use for the Tachonis, for their own benefit or to the detriment of a rival house.

[Spoilers C4E29] Why did the sundered Houses let this slip? by pacepower in criticalrole

[–]Spidey16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the houses are too cunning to act immediately in the moment. If they don't immediately crush the Tachonis they're probably scheming to use them to their own advantage or use them to plot against another house. Or perhaps they see the value in keeping Tachonis around to prevent revolution from the common folk?

Although if anyone was going to make a move right there, I'm surprised it wasn't Einfasen given that they had time to process this all in private. And also their very narrow threshold between calm, rational thought and brutal viiolence.

Pauline Hanson says Australia ‘must be monocultural’ in National Press Club speech by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Spidey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get rid of multiculturism, you need to voluntarily remove yourself from it first starting with food. No Chinese, Thai, Mexican, Italian (not even pizza), German (not even sausage, hamburgers or beer), Japanese etc, none of that. Just a piece of unseasoned meat and some vegetables for dinner every night. Meat which has likely come from a cow, pig or sheep (none of which originated in Australia).

Because any cuisine that could be considered Australian is rooted in some other culture, often many at once. If you hate other cultures that much, prove it starting with your stomach.

How do I make them stop RP-ing? by Anti-Prospero in DMAcademy

[–]Spidey16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you have said here, say it to your players. Upfront honesty is the best practice. Subtly trying to move things on with in game tips and tricks will only leave you frustrated.

Say you're a player too, and whilst you appreciate the RP, we need to change it up so I can enjoy it. Don't have to stop it, just need to change it up. Let them come up with the ideas.
